Any ingredient that comes from a rendering plant, is ghastly, disgusting, vile, filthy, and shocking!!! Yes, dead pets go to the rendering plant, along with diseased decomposing dead livestock. What do people think veterinarians do with their dead Fido or Fluffy for goodness sakes! They don't have little pet cemeteries out back somewhere! If there's 'meat and bonemeal', or 'meat meal', or similar sounding protein in the food, it's pure garbage! But, the main big companies use it because it's cheap. You get what you pay for. That's why the good brands are so much more expensive. It's all about ingredients. I'm in the feed business. I know all the dirty little secrets.

I know all the dirty little secrets.
Are you sure? :saevil: You should see what they put in human feed. And (lol), you should see what the reptilians put in their feed.

I was differentiating between the 'feed' (animal) industry, and the 'food' (human) industry! But yeah, what is allowed in 'human' food is quite shocking also. I'm not familiar with how the reptilians prepare their food. :yuck:

.... what can I say?

We, the people, donīt have much choice, what we can eat unless, you have your own garden for fruit and vegetables and meat? Even many of the farmers lie today.

Thereīs a brand, they call ÖKO here in Germany. Anything, thatīs labeled with "ÖKO" should be good, like the eggs from chickens, that havenīt been held in tight cages but running free around. Also itīs more expensive then normal eggs. But it isnīt so.

One scandal after the other came!
All the eggs have a code on each egg, to tell you where itīs from etc. The eggs, that they didnīt sell, they just went back to the plant. They washed off the info code and placed new oneīs on it.

And then you wounder, why suddenly in the news, so and so many people have died on salmonella poisoning.

The same is true, with the dead animals, that they process. They showed it on late TV ONCE! It was on the news, that from that date on, the firms didnīt have to cook those animals at that specific temperature, that could kill off all those deceases, medications etc., in them. Now, a much lower temperatureīs OK they said.

Theyīre working a long time already, on killing off the population. And when people get sick, everybody makes money on it, not only the doctors but also the lawyers, when people sue the companies.

Even the most expensive foods, have that problem!

But Iīve noticed, that that way, theyīre controlling not only the people, but also the market. They start a news spread, that Oranges are too poisoned due to the insecticides, they spray them with. Suddenly, people stop buying oranges. 2 weeks later, "there never was a problem with oranges"!

This is an important issue for our Best Friends and Trusting Companions.
Read read read the labels on Dog Food.
When I cook healthy for Bessie I end up cooking healthy for me, too. I use soup bones to make a broth, seasoning with a little salt and pepper. I love onions but don't add them because onions are poison to dogs. I then use this broth to cook up brown rice. If I have some veggies I'll add them to the brown rice, ditto some left over cooked chicken or left over cooked beef.
Beans are good for dogs too and go great with the rice. Bessie and me really enjoy this meal.
I've been very happy with Hill's Science Diet for Bessie. About 3 times a week I'll add a tablespoon of Norwegian Cod Liver Oil to her food.
Bessie also loves bananas and apples. So, when I buy fresh fruit for her I'm actually getting it for me, too!

Hey Mary! My dogs love fruit also. My two labs love to get into the orchard and eat all the fallen apples! The female can eat them so fast I'm always amazed! Check out Innova for Bessie. It's a little more expensive, but FAR superior to 'Science' diet. ;)

:arms: Great article, maryals!

And should you buy and cook more, you can always freeze your doggyīs food in portions, in little plastic containers or freezer bags. Then, eighter take them in the evening out, but leave it in the fridge, to thaw it out or put it into the microwave oven, to defrost.

Actually, my doggy was a Labrador and the female dogs, seam to be more intelligent and patient then the males, .... just like in real life! :biglaugh:

Back then, I didnīt have a computer and didnīt have any of the knowledge, about Bad Dog Food going around but, whenever we came home from shopping, and Miss Labrador was anxiously waiting for us, :arms::arms::flowers1: jumping up and down happily, like a kangaroo (probably was a kangaroo dog) to see us... Anyways, after she calmed down again a bit, and layed underneath the table, I showed and brought her the new large bag of dried food, about 40 Lbs.

It was still closed, just got it out of the car and she looked away from it, as if I was assaulting her. I said, come here, come here... she came and as she stood in front of it, she looked away, in a calm way, as if I was holding in my hand, Dog Shampoo or soap!

I guess, she knew something, what I didnīt back then. My mother used to cook also a lot of goodies for her. Itīs such an satisfying experience, to see when a pet or personīs enjoy to eat your food!

But she was of this type, that she wonīt eat anything! :ugh: so, we had to think of something, :thinkerg: to make her eat it. Or another good idea to make her get busy on a bone, is to stuff into the empty bone cavity some fresh dog food, so sheīll be busy for a while, getting to it. That way, she did something for her teeth too.

Itīs nice to watch them eighter eat their food or get busy, on a bone. Itīs even more fun, then watching Big Brother! I donīt watch that show, itīs more like Big Bother! :biglaugh:

Dog Food Recipes
... If you're looking for some natural dog food recipes or homemade dog food, this recipe from the Natural Pet Food Cookbook is a great start.

Chef Jason Hill of Chef Tips puts Bandit's Beef Stew to the test, and this dog food recipe was approved with enthusiasm by his family's Shih Tzu puppy, Sugar.

This recipe can be prepared as an organic dog food with the right ingredients. Just choose canned organic vegetables when preparing this meal. It's also a human grade dog food, as Chef Jason Hill attests — and not bad, either!

Using natural organic dog food ingredients, this special treat makes a great alternative to dry dog food such as Nutro Dog Food, Innova Dog Food, Canidae Dog Food and Pedigree Dog Food.

It's a gourmet dog food your pet will enjoy time and time again.

I've been buying a brand called "Taste of the Wild" which comes in venison, salmon and waterfowl formula- it's grain free. No food is perfect, but I'll give that to them, and I make a stew of lamb or turkey with potatoes, etc. and put a bit of that on top.
VeraWang is picky and won't eat the kibble without some warm stew or broth on it! Sheesh.

Things that are good treats:
steamed or boiled salmon, with some of those little round bones left in (for the calcium)
Cooked spinach, no salt
Mashed sweet potato
My little Jack Russell Terrier liked to go in the garden and yank a few pea pods off the vine! The weirdest thing she ever ate was this organic "fish based" fertilizer I'd put in the ground around the tomato plants. She'd dig it out and eat it as fast as I'd dress the tomato plants. It must have been good stuff!

In the old days, if a farmer had a dog, he had to work for his keep. They didn't keep them for pets. So a dog was either a herder or a "ratter" to keep vermin away from the barn. Some farmers even went so far as to not feed the dogs anything. So to eat the dog would have to catch a rabbit or something.

The sled dog was a vital survival tool for Native Alaskans in the harsh arctic life. Salmon gave their dogs essential protein, vitamins, and minerals. Modern day dog mushers still feed salmon to their dog teams.
Nutrition experts are discovering what native Alaskans have known for hundreds of years. In addition to the high protein, vitamins, and mineral content, salmon are also an excellent source of OMEGA-3 and OMEGA-6 fatty acids. These OMEGA acids have been linked to fighting cancer, bone and joint disease, as well as contributing to a dog's lustrous coat.
Arctic Paws is family owned and operated. We make the highest quality treats that give your pet and you the most satisfaction!. We know you love your pet, and giving him or her YUMMY CHUMMIES, is the purest expression of your love. Dogs love our treats. We guarantee it!*

So far it is Bessie's fave treat. AND it doesn't STINK to my nose, the way so many dog treats do. It smells like fish, but not stinky fish.

Thanks for the suggestion Judee, I'll look for it :fing02:
