O + (N x S) + Cpm/T + He (http://www.ananova.com/news/story/sm_3368081.html?menu=news.quirkies)
Reasons to be cheerful

Britons should have plenty to smile about on Friday, 19 June - as it's officially the happiest day of 2009.

Our spirits have apparently been boosted by the sunny start to summer, the longest days of the year, the nearing of payday - and optimism that Andy Murray could win Wimbledon.

Psychologist Dr Cliff Arnall devised a formula to pinpoint the day we are all most likely to feel the happiest.

And the Cardiff University lecturer said people should forget credit crunch worries because the secret of happiness lies with things which are free.

Dr Arnall, 44, said feel-good sensations are enjoying time with friends and loves ones, appreciating nature in the sunshine and looking forward to the weekend and a holiday.

His complicated mathematic formula is: O + (N x S) + Cpm/T + He.

O = being outdoors and outdoor activity, N = nature, S = social interaction, Cpm = memories of childhood summers and other positive thoughts, T = temperature, and He = excitement about holidays.

Dr Arnall, from Brecon in Powys, said: "The most important things you can do to be happy are free. People may be less able to afford other leisure activities but it's free to walk in the park or paddle in a stream.

"It refreshes you and you forget your other worries. And the most important thing in our lives are our relationships - and no amount of money can buy that.

"I've spoken to miserable multi-millionaires and people who have no money but are very happy because they have amazing friends."

Yeah Div, I hear you.

I don't need anyone to tell me what day I feel the happiest...that varies from day to day, however I can tell you I love being outside with nature, taking it all in, digging in the dirt, making my small mark on this planet in my way ....and few humons!! :D ;)

Nothing as energizing as that to me...although it would be nice to share that with someone who enjoys the same...

Why have so many lost site of that?

Our relationships are not always necessarily other people either...it's how we relate to ourselves and the universe first and foremost...IMO...once one is on their way there, then other things perhaps are possible and if we still wish to relate to other "humons" then how and why we do this, especially via our intent is most important IMHO.

Anyway, I have been battling bushes all day and need to have some down time.....and FOOD!! ;)

Also, on another note, folks, a few people here can't keep this forum going relative to activity.

I hope we have enough interesting things to discuss here and folks who care to discuss them or at minimum post what they have read, that they find of interest, to stimulate the same, or comment on what someone else has.

A handful of regular members, who post regularly everyday, regardless of season, can't keep a discussion forum going. It's all up to you.....

I know it's summertime, however, let's see if we can still keep this place going with interest and participation from all you you who come and read here.

If it wasn't for a handful of folks here, there wouldn't be anything to read here everyday......with almost 2,000 members!

Your turn.....:)

More than many thanks to those of you, who take the time to post something here everyday and most importantly for those who share our vision, the quest and the community that we have herein... :)

ha ha ha, I'll keep that in mind when it's time to escape to Canada, ha.

It's true, a lot of people, MOST people, have lost touch with nature. A few still exist, but take for example when I go out to the Arboretum here. It's a big place, over 1000 acres, but I can spend a few hours walking around and not run into another soul, with the except of the occasional grounds keeper attending to things here and there. That place is so beautiful, so convenient to get to, on the edge of a big metropolitan area, yet where is everyone? And, when I do bump into other visitors, over half the people are tourists, from places like Japan, Sweden, Canada, Australia, etc. And the occasional local that I do run into are usually the same people (like me) that I've met there before. Of course I know where everyone else is .. on the way home I go past the Mall of America, and THAT place is always packed! SIGH! And, the worst thing about that is there are kids growing up that couldn't tell you the difference between an oak tree and an apple tree, but they can tell you what a Pokemon and Smurf is, ha.

I actually need to schedule some outside time soon, I've been working on a website for someone these last couple weeks and I'm just about finished.

Yeah, traffic everywhere ALWAYS drop off during the summer. I've noticed that since the beginning of the Internet. Even traffic on the big popular sites on the net drop significantly during the summer. I guess the nice weather outside draws people to be inside at the malls, ha. And of course, those that work full time haven't as much to be on the Internet, when they get home there are those summer things always needing to get done. And, with the kids out of school too, they take up a lot more time in the summer. Just a fact of life.

ha ha, I believe what helped end my marriage was a grumman canoe - I sat in the bow paddling my self silly when he was shouting I wasn't doing it right. He was so lucky I didn't smack with the paddle.
