Just wanted to extend warm wishes for a wonderful holiday with those close to you this Thanksgiving Holiday.

This honestly is one of my favorite holidays....where we can truly celebrate Mother Earth, her bounty and all the gifts she provides for us, along with our celestial "parents".

Despite all we discuss and often gripe about here in our community, we are still blessed to live on this planet, in this time and enjoy, share and allow our selves to be in awe of all we have, with the bounty, love and amazement of what Mother Earth has given to all of us!

Happy Thanksgiving my Canadian friends!

I am very busy the next week so will be very scant here, however I'll pop in when I am able.

Have a wonderful Holiday and remember to enjoy the wonderful show that nature is putting on for us this time of year.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING ALPHA!!! I hope you had a great one! At least Canada celebrates it when it's supposed to be, not when it's convenient for the turkey growers like here in the US. :D

Happy Thanksgiving! Please, tell this American all about how you celebrate up there in Canada; what foods are traditional, events, parades, etc!

Thank you Mary and thanks for asking how we celebrate here in Canada.

Food wise, for the most part, I would suppose it's very much the same as our US neighbours, again depending on what cultural background one comes from.

Turkey, Ham, Prime Rib, Leg of Lamb etc is usually big up here, along with all the trimmings...roast potatoes, veggies like cauliflower, broccoli, candied carrots, asparagus, brussel sprouts, corn, salad...lot's of fruit, cheese etc.....some folks with a Mediterranean background roast an entire pig.

Of course lot's of desserts too. There's pumpkin pie ( which I don't care for and never have) or any kind of pies ( I love pecan), tortes, squares or tiramisu, trifle etc.

I usually like to do a turkey with all the trimmings, baked sweet potato with sour cream and chives or garlic rosemary roasted potatoes, asparagus with cheese sauce, brussel sprounts, cauliflower, candied carrots, spinach and mushroom salad, nice crusty fresh bread, like a garlic asiago baguette etc.

My oven is on the fritz....it's firing about 100 degrees over what it should be and my fridge broke down on Thursday ( remember my Sears thread) so I wasn't able to do what I usually do for fear that I couldn't cook it properly, nor have anywhere to store the food properly once cooked, so I ordered in a Chinese Food feast from a good Chinese restaurant here this year and we had Brownie Caramel Cheesecake from La Rocca...a really great bakery here, for dessert.

Of course a bunch of appetizers before dinner...shrimp, fruit tray, cheeses, dips any and all beverage that anyone wanted.

We don't do the football thing that you all have in the US on Thanksgiving, nor do we have anything like Black Friday like you all do. Everything is shut down tight and closed on Thanksgiving Monday except for small independent stores like your 7/11's.

I cheated this year and had two thanksgivings, one on Saturday and the other today. What we consume can be best summed up in two words... food & booze and usually lot's of both. As Alpha stated, everything shuts down here on thanksgiving and thankfully so... it's always been that way here.

Happy Thanksgiving Day to everyone in Canada. We celebrated yesterday with turkey, roast beef, wine, all sorts of salads, pumpkin and apple pies.... although the pumpkin pie wasn't touched.... and some Indian chai tea which was just delicious.

New granddaughter is a joy to watch - she's walking and really developing a personality:dance: It was a classic family evening, thoroughly enjoyed by all. I think that we need these holidays, if only as an excuse to get together. We all seem to be living such frenetic lives these days.

Speaking of frenetic - I really need some down time, which is why I haven't been posting much lately. But I did want to wish everyone the best for Thanksgiving, on the doorstep of winter...
