Blalock Calls 'Enterprise' Finale Appalling
By Michelle March 7, 2005 - 10:29 PM
Never one to be shy about her feelings about Star Trek: Enterprise and the development of her character, T'Pol, Jolene Blalock described the series finale as "appalling" in a recent interview.

Speaking to The Toronto Star, which noted that Blalock's 30th birthday was also her "last day in outer space", Blalock said that she believed most of the cast and crew were still in "active denial" about the show coming to an end, though she also described herself as happy with recent auditions.

"We started out with 13 million viewers on the pilot, and we somehow managed to drive 11 million of them away," noted Blalock of the decline in viewership for Enterprise - something of an exaggeration, and it is worth noting that both Deep Space Nine and Voyager lost several million viewers between their pilots and final seasons as well. Speaking of recent fan rallies in several countries to keep Enterprise on the air, she added, "I really am touched by their outpour of support, and their display of passion for the show. I was sort of caught off-guard. I didn't know that they were so adamant...but, you know, they really aren't saying anything new. They're just saying it louder."

Identifying herself as a fan of the original series, Blalock said that doing scripts that make so many references to the original series has been a "a treat, a joy to do" this season. "It was an unexpected surprise to have the scripts that we did...it was fun to come to work again." However, asked about the series finale, written by longtime executive producers Rick Berman & Brannon Braga, Blalock said, "I don't know where to begin with that one...the final episode is...appalling."

Blalock described herself as "very excited" about a recent audition, and said, "I love auditioning, the entire process, going out and meeting people in the industry. It's been four years since I've been out pounding the pavement, and I miss it. It's a place of the unknown, and a place of infinite possibilities. And I like that." She said that because of her makeup and Vulcan ears, she had no fears about being typecast.

Rumors persist that we will learn in the finale that the four seasons of "Enterprise" are nothing more than a holonovel being viewed by Will Riker and Deanna Troi on the Enterprise-D.

Ah, the old Bobby Ewing shower scene approach. Oh goody. I think I would find that appalling too. It's bad enough the show is getting yanked, do we have to now say the last four years don't count too? I sure hope it doesn't end that way.

Now THAT would be LAME!

What an annoyingly bad and overused soap-operatic plot device... such a cop-out is the most greivous sin a scriptwriter can commit, in this writer's humble opinion. If this turns out to be true, shame be upon the writers.

Berman & Bragga, no doubt, consider it to be yet another piece of inspired genius.
Just like the killing of Captain Kirk.

Such inspired genius.
The Trekkies & Trekkers don't deserve such incredible talent working for them.

"Pearls before swine." ... I'm sure they'll say.
If they aren't saying it all ready.

B&B had to get their noses in there to end the series. The finale should have been left to Manny Coto - he has done a fine job (best season of all) the rest of this season!

A local radio personality has said if the series ends like the rumors have it he's going to dump all his Trek collectibles and never watch anything Trek again.

Quite the contrary, I will treasure the previous Star Trek incarnations: TOS, NextGen, DS9, Voyager and Enterprise.

But if the rumors prove to be true about the Series Finale, I AM going to (God Forgive Me) put an actual, for real, Wiccan Curse on Rick Berman And Brat Brannon.
I won't have to worry about it bouncing back at me 7 fold or some such thing, because this Curse would be justified.

The only thing that will break the Curse will be when Berman and Brat BRANNON DO RIGHT BY star Trek Fans and especially we die hard fans of "Enterprise"

They want to make dang sure Straczynski can't get his hands on it and make it a real hit!

I wouldn't be surprised if they did Enterprise strictly as a write off.

Ahhhh but that is what is so great about SciFi. ANYTHING can happen, ANY explaination can be given Agreed

Oh Friends, Friends, am I the ONLY one in Pain and Anguish about this? Am I the ONLY one who sees the Potential of "Enterprise" now that the whole Time Travel Temporal Wars Xindi folderol is gone and done?????

Is there NO ONE out there who feels betrayed, led on and lied too? What the H-E-Double Hockey Stick are Berman and Braga up to? Are they suffering from some Cardassian Flu?

A CURSE ON THEM, A POX ON THEM and their HOUSES untill they make things right!
