Black eyed? Black eye? Born in the South, we call them black-eyed. Pyrite? What do Texans call them?
For Your Good Luck Recipe:
Ingredients
4 slices bacon, chopped
1 pound dry black-eyed peas
6 cups water
1 onion, chopped
1 (14.5 ounce) can diced tomatoes, undrained
1 jalapeno pepper, finely chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
1 tablespoon chili powder
salt to taste
Fry out the bacon and drain the grease off. Add the other stuff. Cook. Eat. Good luck. BTW, I don't put a jalpeno pepper in mine. Or the chili powder...but, check with the Western Southerners...I'm more Eastern. http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f382/AnnabelleL/Smilies/agreendancer.gif
