I need help with posting images. I think the time has come for me to learn. I've searched FAQ's and there doesn't seem to be anything on how to do this. So I'm turning to you people for help. I have some gif images in "my documents" how do I post them on this forum.

Thanks.

I am toying with the idea of making a forum gallery... somewhere members can easily post and manage their own pix... Keep you updated.

edit: Mav, change the title of the thread to How to Post Pictures on the Forum (or something like that), and I will make it a sticky for all to see.

Hi Skookum, I personally find this is not too easy to understand, and does not deal with how to actually post a picture from your hard drive, AND it only works in Internet Exploder which nobody should be using :) However, any tips can be helpful... just don't go dust off IE again 'cause you don't see an icon on the image... in Firefox, right-click the image and choose "Copy Image Location" - pretty easy. However, again, this only deals with existing photos.

I am setting up a members gallery where you just have to hit upload and find your photo on your hard drive. I am just waiting on Gummer for one thing then it will be done. It will use the excellent open source software at http://gallery.sf.net.

Under the "Go Advanced" posting button, there is a "Manage Attachments" button option for uploading images from your local hard drive. Good for adding a pic that goes along with a specific post. But a separate member's gallery is a good idea for general interest pics.

Yes, the attachments is fine for smaller pix, but there is a heavy limit... the user gallery would have no limits...

I am unstickyifying this as the gallery has been sidetracked methinks.

I can only ask for the go ahead... if it never comes, what can I do?

There are tons of free services, google them... they will let you post pix and then link back to them.... If someone really wants, maybe I can do it on my server, but it should be here.

It took me a few scanners and several computers before I got
the hang of it thru trial and error the last 8 years ... I never did figure out how to build a webpage using all that bracket stuff and numbers.

But I've morphed into a wizard using photo shop and microsoft imaging once I find where the hell I downloaded the file.
