"There She Goes" by the La's.

Bet'cha didn't know this song was a paean to shooting dope!

... and clearly neither did the Christian soft-rockers who covered it and made it a huge hit (although their version sucked wads compared to this, the original). Nor did the folks at Disney who included it on a couple of film soundtracks.

Muwahahahahahaha! I love subversive songs, yes I do!

And it's just a great song. The chiming guitars and lilting melody are as addictive as the dope the writer was on! I've always thought it sounds like what would have possibly happened if Frankie Valli had been singing lead with the Byrds, circa 1966 or so.

Download THIS version and steer clear of all others.

Damn your ears, Nightcat!!

I spent a buck on iTunes downloading that damn song, only to realize, "Oh!!! It's *that* song!"

No doubt it's a masterfully crafted pop ditty, which I'm a fan of - but....still..ewwwww.... LOL

At first I thought you were referring to VU's "There She Goes Again", which would have made sense.

For my money, the most fun, subversive dope song is Pet Clark's "Downtown". The Mary Quant, 60's heydey term for heroin being "downtown". You went "downtown" for heroin and "uptown" for coke.

"The lights are much brighter there, you can forget all your troubles, forget all your cares...."
