September 5 2007: 7:56 AM EDT
NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- NBC Universal and Amazon.com announced Tuesday that the online retailer's digital download service, dubbed Amazon Unbox, is now offering NBC television content in a variety of packages for download onto customers' computers.
Unbox offerings include popular shows like The Office, Heroes, and 30 Rock, as well asall of its new fall series.
New episodes of shows will be available on Amazon Unbox the day after they air on TV.
Starting Sept. 10, customers will be able to download pilot episodes of NBC's new shows Bionic Woman, Chuck, Journeyman and Life free of charge in advance of their network premieres, the companies said.
When purchasing full seasons of an NBC TV series, consumers can receive up to 30 percent off.
But more information on per-show or per-movie pricing was not available in the companies' statement.
Amazon's Unbox, which has offered Universal Pictures, Rogue Pictures and Focus Features films since last September, is also expanding its movie offerings to include new releases and classics, the companies said.

I guess it is cool. Meh I am indifferent. I would rather see archives of old shows to tell the truth, stuff you can't buy on DVD or whetever.... Rocket Robin Hood for instance ;)

Eh....since I stopped watching prime time around 1992, I don't care much. I'd rather have my old shows remastered on DVD so they look and sound as good as possible.

Delphs, interesting.....
30% off won't offset them or make a huge difference...although if it makes it easier for me without selling out, I'm all for it.
A or media demand is already here and part of the future....There's already media on demand for those who can find in...albeit in a relatively small way.
I have "satellite" TV, and I still pay big bucks for it, although that will change soon.
I'm tired of having hundred s of channels available to me, with nothing that I want to watch or care to watch, for even the odd time that I turn the "tube" on...
Right now I'm in the mood for an episode of either the "Outer Limits", "I Dream of Jeannie", or " I Love Lucy"....not to mention "The Mothman Prophecy" ,,,,

Ditto CM and I SO agree.
I'll still look for a great concert on PBS or other , some potential interesting Doc's via the CBC or the BBC, History, Discovery etc. ...and once in a while, a dose of "Law and Order"....and the Food Channel...check outr "License to Grill" :) :yumyum:...a fellow Cannuck who has it down right with good food!

Food Channel is great. I really enjoy the programs on there. I agree that License to Grill is very enjoyable. :)
I already pay the Dish people beaucoup bucks. I should pay more for reruns or preruns of stuff I wouldn't watch in the first place? :aargh4:

And further more...:biglaugh:...they should broadcast this stuff on cell phones so it could be watched in restaurants, theaters, churches, at school, and driving down the freeway, etc. etc. http://img379.imageshack.us/img379/6499/ahhh1gv.gif

umm they do, my new cellphone has TV built in... not that I would ever use it, but it is certainly there.

Oh P! Do they really? You must know by now how old fashioned I am! I sleep with my radio on all the time--do you suppose I got the idea though "sleep teaching"?
My current cell phone doesn't do much of anything. Just rides around in my purse (turned off) in case of emergency. My son, the IT techy guy, has a new one that I guess does everything but the dishes.
If I had one of those, I probably wouldn't want to try to figure out how to work it, anyhow. :biglaugh: Sure was a marvelous invention for when I was living in my motorhome! What I really needed then was one of those GPS things so that when I got stuck in the snow or the mud I could tell the road service where I was so they could come and save me. :cool2:

yes, alot of them have gps, tv, radio, mp3s, camera, video camera, web browser, umm, telephone ha!
I am the same, I do not use mine at all, I just feel obliged for those odd times I go off in the woods or drive in a blizzard... My cell was recently washed on normal cycle in my pocket, then put through an entire dryer cycle. It no longer functions, and now I have to pay some insane amount to get a new one, contracts and all that crop.:birthday:

I also think it is ridiculous to have those things on a phone unless you are a teenager with ADD. Even that doesn't excuse it. I want a phone, that is it. I want one with big numbers for my big fingers. This does not exist, you cannot find what I just described. We have evolved beyond the phone.
