"Mom and Dad" as well as "husband and wife" have been banned from California schools under a bill signed by Gov. Arnold Schwarzeneggar, who with his signature also ordered public schools to allow boys to use girls restrooms and locker rooms, and vice versa, if they choose."

The bills signed by Schwarzenegger include SB777, which bans anything in public schools that could be interpreted as negative toward homosexuality, bisexuality and other alternative lifestyle choices.

There are no similar protections for students with traditional or conservative lifestyles and beliefs, however.

...SB777 prohibits any "instruction" or school-sponsored "activity" that "promotes a discriminatory bias" against "gender" – the bill's definition includes cross-dressing and sex changes – as well as "sexual orientation."

AB394 promotes the same issues through state-funded publications, postings, curricula and handouts to students, parents and teachers.

Schwarzenegger also signed AB14, which prohibits state funding for any program that does not support a range of alternative sexual practices, including state-funded social services run by churches.
Affected will be day cares, preschool or after-school programs, food and housing programs, senior services, anti-gang efforts, jobs programs and others.

...it also forces every hospital in California – even private, religious hospitals – to adopt policies in support of trans-sexuality, bisexuality, and homosexuality and opens up nonprofit organizations to lawsuits if they exclude members that engage in homosexual, bisexual, or transsexual conduct.

My only comment right now...or rather it's more of a question...Don't children in gay households usually call one parent "Mom" or "Dad" depending on the situation? What should ALL children, regardless of the home set-up call parents..."legal caretaker"? I suppose using the word "parent" would be easier and acceptable.

OH. MY. GOD. SHIT. I just can't believe this.

The public schools in Calif. haven't been doing so hot lately, anyhow. I hope they can pass a voucher initiative that will tie the money to the child instead of the school to help parents provide private school education. Arnold shot down values, morals, and ethics, in one swipe of his pen, that were part of what made America great. Shame shame. End times? Maybe. Stop the earth. I want to get off.

HEY!!! :hat:

Well, Loner, Love, I am a lot older than you are and I betcha we used that expression before you could talk! I'll give you the other one--what was it now? Anyhow, you don't have exclusive rights to this one!

P.S. On the other hand, maybe we should drag our feet over the side together, ya think?

uhh is this a hoax? It is the way it all has to go eventually, but this seems a little premature... but then again, it is cali :)

It is not at all unlike the feminist movement, a historically ignored and minimized segment of the population is coming to the fore and enforcing their right to exist. Expect more and stranger ones as time goes on. Maybe you don't agree, or think these are valid sexual groups even, but when there is enough people in a group to have a political voice, can you really say they are less important than any other lobby or political interest?

How would you feel if you were a kid with 2 dads and you keep getting it drilled into your head you must have a mommy or else you don't have a family? Maybe you feel families do need a mommy, but many people would disagree with you.

I think the title of the article, as well as the phrase "banning mom and dad and husband and wife" are a little bit of sensational phrasing...

However, we do need to be sensitive to the rights of people who are tax paying, contributing, law abiding citizens. To ALL of them.

Why is it okay to have reality shows like The Bachelor or Who Wants to Marry a Millionaire - with the ulitmate goal of the competition being marriage - and yet people who love each other, and sometimes (GASP!) even want to raise a child together, cannot be legally married or recognized as "legitimate" parents by the state, but are often only seen as guardians. A lot of the people who watch those shows are also the ones who say that gay marriage is "immoral."

And yes, it is time to move forward for the same rights for all people who are legal, law abiding, tax-paying citizens.

And no, it's not "just because it's California". I am really sick and tired of the California bashing that goes on here - there are plenty of people here in California who are not wealthy, materialistic or shallow. Why believe what the media stereotype is? Why not question this along with everything else we question here?

Just wanted to mention that other thread going right now about spouse-bots... even though our responses are light-hearted and all in fun on this thread, the article was written seriously... so..... let me thow out the question again? How do you define someone else's relationship in terms of morality? And is it really anyone else's business?

Ah, PC is so lovely. Let it prevail.

It will seem a little strange to (old-fashioned me, anyhow) teach our babies to say "Bob, Carol, Ted, or Alice" instead of "Mommy and Daddy."

So now we traditionalists will have to go into the closet to communicate with our children, I guess. :boggled:

It's no one else's business, unless they are doing harm to someone else. Many people do things in their own bedroom that are on the books as 'illegal' in many states!!! (Anyone blushing here? :27: )

If that is no one else's business, why does knowing seem so interesting to some humans? Porno, I think they call it. ?

There's no way you can keep anything a secret these days. There could be dozens of spy cameras watching you right now. Your DNA pretty much tells what you are, and your past programming identifies who you are. And even waterboarding can extract secrets deep from within your mind. And, blush when you meet a real remote viewer.

you can say mommy and daddy, you just shouldn't say that is all the choice there is.

California is not one of the easier states to homeschool in either.

When my son was learning to talk, he called my mother, "Grammyfodder". Ahead of his time, apparently.
