View Full Version : Hearing voices/sounds in dreams that wake you up?

I sometimes will hear a voice telling me something that is perceived as so external that it wakes me up. Also sometimes I hear a doorbell. I will get up to answer it and it will not be there. If I hear a doorbell, something good will happen soon.
My husband says that sometimes he will hear some big bang - like something falling - that wakes him up. There won't be one though.

I sometimes wake up from a dream like that. I'll hear a bang, like a gun going off, and then I'll find myself waking up back here. When that happens I figure someone must have snuck up behind me in that dream and shot me in the back of the head, and so I died and naturally woke up from that terminated dream. Bastards! I'll get back at them in my next dream. :sasmokin:

Hi Hadriana,
Very similar here. The exact same with the doorbell. I remember that happening 2-3 times distictly with the doorbel being literally clear as a bell but nobody at the door. Geez.
William
Twice now I've been sleeping soundly when I was hit with the loudest imaginable bang (or explosion?) and "see" a huge, solid wall of fire for only a second and then I am wide awake. It is scary and I hate it. :yikes:

That would be enough to send a chill down my spine Dera. Similar experiences get to me too. Thanks for taking the moment to write.:wavey:

I've been hearing loud noises lately ...actually very loud bangs, slams and crashes, both in an awake state, an almost asleep state and those that have actually woken me up with no explanation?!?!?
Dera, I haven't seen the fire associated with it though...that would scare me too....more than mucho...
Is there something happening in the cosmos as we get closer to the galactic plane or other?? :dunno:

Hi Alpha,
This question made me think and smile. I believe that I am currently in the something-is-always-threatening on those levels school of thought. Always, or at least for millenia. Laugh. Astrological reporting might have something though.

I think it just may be more than astrological william.
Many report cataclysm at that last "convergence" or whatever the the proper phrase for this journey that the earth takes, every 64M years.
Here's just one source and a thought...I know a bit off topic for the topic of this thread, however just a thought as a possible "cause"

The Milky Way Enigma -How Galactic Forces May Control Life on Earth
http://www.dailygalaxy.com/my_weblog/images/2007/07/19/milky_way_enigma.jpg (http://www.dailygalaxy.com/photos/uncategorized/2007/07/19/milky_way_enigma.jpg) Horoscope enthusiasts will be happy to hear that a grand cosmic force does indeed seem to be responsible for controlling the direction of all life on Earth.
However, this grand cosmic cycle has more to do with extinction than finding a tall, handsome stranger.
Earlier this year, research revealed that the rise and fall of species on Earth seems to be driven by the undulating motions of our solar system as it travels through the Milky Way.
Some scientists believe that this cosmic force may offer the answer to some of the biggest questions in our Earth’s biological history—especially where evolution has fallen short.
Researchers at the University of California, Berkeley found that marine fossil records show that biodiversity increases and decreases based on a 62-million-year cycle. At least two of the Earth's great mass extinctions-the Permian extinction 250 million years ago and the Ordovician extinction about 450 million years ago-correspond with peaks of this cycle, which can't be explained by evolutionary theory.
Earlier this year, a team of researchers at the University of Kansas came up with an out-of-this-world explanation for the phenomenon. Their idea hinges upon the fact that stars move through space and sometimes rush headlong through galaxies, or approach closely enough to cause a brief cosmic tryst.
Our own star moves toward and away from the Milky Way's center, and also up and down through the galactic plane. One complete up-and-down cycle takes 64 million years- suspiciously close to the Earth's biodiversity cycle.
Once the researchers independently confirmed the biodiversity cycle, they then proposed a novel mechanism whereby which the Sun's galactic travels is causing it.
It’s no secret that the Milky Way is being gravitationally pulled toward a massive cluster of galaxies, called the Virgo Cluster, which is located about 50 million light years away. Adrian Melott and his colleague Mikhail Medvedev, speculate that as the Milky Way rushes towards the Virgo Cluster, it generates a so-called bow shock in front of it that is similar to the shock wave created by a supersonic jet.
"Our solar system has a shock wave around it, and it produces a good quantity of the cosmic rays that hit the Earth. Why shouldn't the galaxy have a shock wave, too?" Melott asks.
The galactic bow shock is only present on the north side of the Milky Way's galactic plane, because that is the side facing the Virgo Cluster as it moves through space, and it would cause superheated gas and cosmic rays to stream behind it, the researchers say. Normally, our galaxy's magnetic field shields our solar system from this "galactic wind." But every 64 million years, the solar system's cyclical travels take it above the galactic plane.
"When we emerge out of the disk, we have less protection, so we become exposed to many more cosmic rays," Melott has said.
The boost in cosmic-ray exposure may have a direct effect on Earth's organisms, according to paleontologist Bruce Lieberman. The radiation would lead to higher rates of genetic mutations in organisms or interfere with their ability to repair DNA damage. In this way, the process could lead to new species while killing off others.
Cosmic rays are also associated with increased cloud cover, which could cool the planet by blocking out more of the Sun's rays. They also interact with molecules in the atmosphere to create nitrogen oxide, a gas that eats away at our planet's ozone layer, which protects us from the Sun's harmful ultraviolet rays.
Richard Muller, one of the UC Berkeley physicists who co-discovered the cycle, said Melott and his colleagues have come up with a plausible galactic explanation for the biodiversity cycle.
If future studies confirm the galaxy-biodiversity link, it would force scientists to broaden their ideas about what can influence life on Earth. "Maybe it's not just the climate and the tectonic events on Earth," Lieberman said. "Maybe we have to start thinking more about the extraterrestrial environment as well."

Hi Alpha, Good to see you again.
Your suggestion as to cause sounded reasonable to my ears. Thought part of the article was humorous. Hope you are having a good late afternoon/evening over in your neck of the woods!

Oh William
I have only speculation and making the best I can from the information I read into some sense...perhaps knowledge....isn't that the quest?!?!
I don't even know what's "reasonable" anymore...it's a very limiting term and another's' paradigm.
Personally I don't subscribe to that, however all we can do is talk, share and let everyone chose as they will.
I hope this place, IW will make a difference, individually and collectively ...if even in some small way.
I hope you're well and let us all keep communicating, sharing and searching.
That is the only way, vehicle and hope we have, IMHO to ever come up with any answers...I hope anyway...TOGETHER....no matter where we come from and what our "presumptions" or views may be! :)

Good God did that ever sound wonderful! I'm in agreement with you concerning your thoughts on the adjective, "reasonable". Laugh.
That drive towards journeying together collectively here through an open exchange of ideas was deeply inspirational, IMHO.
Hope to see you tonight.

Interesting article Alpha, and one that I tend to agree with.
Count me in as someone who has been hearing loud banging/thumping/booming noises. They occur when I am in that state between being fully awake, yet not asleep. I always have a sense that 'something/someone' is there. I also pick up a sense of being 'watched' somehow. There have also been high pitched staccato sounds, interspersed with rapid clicking sounds of varying pitches. Crazy I know! :sigh1: :dunno:

Prions mining while you try to snooze can be annoying, particularly once they cross that blood/brain barrier and are finally inside your head. They can cause all sorts things to short circuit. Wait a while longer, you'll swear a war is raging in there somewhere. :lmao:
I've had other strange things happen when waking up back in this body too. One time I was dreaming I was filling my horse with petrol, and I noticed something was wrong with the numbers on the pump. They were not changing fast enough, as if the pump was slowing down. I recall uttering something in the dream like "There is something wrong here, my pump is not working, it's stuck on 7.45!" I remember banging on the pump trying to fix it, but it only flipped over to 7.46. Nobody was offering any help, but someone somewhere kept saying "wake it up" or something like that. And then something hit me in the back of the head and my world began to spin. I didn't turn around to see what hit me, but I looked at the pump again while pounding on it some more. It reads 7.47 now. Good grief this is going to take all day, and I'm late already. Bang, I'm hit in the head again and suddenly I black out.
The next thing I remember is rubbing my eyes and opening them again. I see 7.50 now, but it's not on a gas pump. I suddenly realize it's 7:50 AM now and I've been pounding on the alarm clock snooze button while my wife (at that time) was hitting me on the head to wake me up or I'll be late for work.
Damn, in the other dream I think I was going to be late for a party or something fun. Crap, I must have sinned there to have been sent back here, ha. As I trot off to the shower I could hear her (that wife at the time) laughing and teasing me with "oh baby, something wrong with your pump? Come here, let mama fix it, she can make it an 8 for you." I utter some profanity and slam the door behind me and turn on the shower. Damn! Of all the rotten luck, ha.

I have 'teaching' dreams that I'm being taught this or that in.
Example - I often dream that I am in the presence of very wise older witches on the other side of the veil! They will be very vivid, even lucid dreams - in one - now this one got me - I was shown a mirror necklace and told I had to get one. "If you are going to talk to spirits, you need to wear a mirror" and I was shown this mirror neckace.
I've never in my life that i can recall seen one. And magically I had no idea that a lot of shamans, witches, ect, will sew mirrors into their clothes or wear them as jewelry. It is said that evil spirits cannot stand to look at themselves, and are repelled by the mirrors.
Anyway, so I had his dream - the voices WOKE me up, GO NOW - so I got up, went to the pc, checked eBay - saw exactly the necklace I was told to buy - and I bought it. Took all of 5 minutes and I went back to bed. With a makeup mirror. hahaha
Now since that time, I have not even FOUND another one ever like it. lol And I read up on it, and I was quite amazed.
It's only happened once, but i remember it pretty distinctly, it's dark and i can see myself sleeping, just a close up view of my face and then like a movie almost, it goes to a side profile of my face and someone or something makes a loud noise next to my ear, and i feel it, and I'm in my body again when the noise happens. The presence is unknown, but for some reason i substitute the unknown with a female presence, and the noise i can't remember, but the only way i can describe to people is as a loud popping noise. I woke up breathing heavy. It's one of the weirdest I've had.

Hello Kurt and WELCOME to IW!!
Thanks for sharing your experience with us. The loud popping noise is often associated with the astral body returning to the physical body during sleep as you write. Tell us a bit more about the presence you feel/perceive is you are comfortable sharing.
