Maybe its just me. But I recently began to burn candles in order to save on my electric bill. Now this in upon itself is nothing big.
But whats intresting is the healing of energy, and oneness with my surroundings when I do it. Like the energy in the candles is filtering into me.
Im wondering if maybe candles hold some power within thier being....

I believe that they may attract energies, as you have already sensed WolfPa. Different colored candles attract different things. Hopefully we have someone here who can explain it in more depth. Personally, I just love the feeling candles give when you're relaxing.

I've always found peace in a natural flame. As a child I loved sitting by an open campfire. I quickly became hypnotized by the flicking colors. A candle is close to natural fire. Remember fire is part of the four main elements.

I burn candles a lot through the dark days of winter. I find them cosy, soothing and easy on the eyes. I have candles everywhere in my living room, bedroom and bathroom. I love to receive candles for birthdays, christmas etc.
As a kid who was raised in England right after WW2, candles were used a lot in our houses then. Electricity was very expensive and we were on a meter and ration system. I will never forget being led upstairs to bed by the light of a candle and the seeing the eerie shadows it cast on the walls.

Hows your lungs? All that vaporized wax, soot, and lead you're breathing can't be very good for the lungs. I suppose it wouldn't matter much if you smoke too. Do they still use lead in candle wicks? The last time I looked practically all imported candles did, and many domestic homemade ones too. I enjoy a scented candle during winter months when everything is dead and covered in show out side and I'm missing spring, but I'll try to lite no more than one, and limit it to an hour even though manufactures say 2 or 4 hours are okay.

Oh yeah, I know all about the soot thing as I get to wipe it off the shelves etc. Not so bad if you use the drip candles as opposed to the dripless ones. I don't notice any soot from the drip (messy) ones.

Laugh. Candle flames... I love the things. I've had similar comforting experiences with insence and fragrances. These, and the thought that sanity might exist in creation in some way. Maybe to a larger degree than I tend to think given world events sometimes.
Trying to stick to an, "I see trees of green, red roses too, I see them bloom for me and you" attitude.

As a matter of fact. Aside from the light my tv is giving off. And the light from the computer screen. The rest of my home it totally candle lit. ^_^

They generally do not put lead in the wicks anymore. Also the homemade wicks I buy all say LEAD FREE.
Witches tend to believe there is a very special magick in candles. It touches many different levels and is part of lower magick, or natural magick. One can bring different magical disciplines into practice, such as sympathetic magic, color magick, herbal magick, and the magick associated with essential oils - which sometimes overlaps with aromotherapy, but not always.
I have seen a little fire elemental dance in the light of a candle flame during a spell that turned out to be supremely successful.
Raymond Buckland wrote a couple of books on Candle Magick.

Thank you Hadriana. My head is hanging with slight shame over having to remember a particular flaw in my thinking I noticed yesterday. I started looking at Magick texts and opening thought with intense interest over past weeks. It just seemed to fit comfortably and well within my thoughts on the grander scheme of things.
Unfortunately I also had started to think that I had the entire system of thought down pat. LOL. Apparently not.
Your post showed me that there are concepts and vocabulary with which I'm utterly and completely unfamiliar with. Laugh. Did love reading your post. Thank you.

I find a candle flame is the perfect concentration point for either meditiation or just relaxation and thinking.

You know, in the few days that I was using candles as a light source. I felt both better in Body, Mind, and Spirit. ^_^
