    Firefox issues

Has anyone else had a problem with Mozilla Firefox not opening files listed as GIF
when surfing over at the BlackVault?

My browser won't load em, all I see is the webpage at the blackvault without
any substance. Darnest thing I've ever experienced online to date.

On a single positive, I've regained my mouse. Yeah that's been an ongoing
problem for the last 12 years. I can feel a drag factor on it from this end
    thru the wires.

Is so nice to have control of it as it was developed that way!

firefox is different than internet explorer in that if the image link is broken it will not show a little red x, it just will not show the image at all. Most likely this is what is happening, their page is messed up and the images won't load for some reason.

Your right, I was able to view everything on the blackvault dot com webpage
but the actual gif document ... seeing the black background with the headers and side buttons, ads etc etc

Today I tried updating under the google software notice which automatically lanched IE ...it takes up too much screen window space with all those fancy tool bars.

All I want is a sleek trimmed down version for web browsing that doesn't require 1/3 of my screen. Its as if they're designing a High Definition web browser for interactive use that requires the user to purchase something over
    17 inches.

I've had the same problem using my IE browser where I can't load any GIF images. To the best of my knowledge I have all the correct updates from Microsoft for XP so I'm rather preplexed why suddenly I can't load any images off the Blackvault in GIF format.

Today I'm getting messages that my antivirus software can't download its updates ... hmmm can't help but wonder if I didn't trigger something after mentioning a few posts ago the problems I was having with AVAST.

Just heard thru the grape vine that I'm not the only person who suddenly can't even load the webpage to AVAST.

When I ran the software I was amazed to read one of the file extensions under windows system 32 listed
trash julie ... that almost knocked me out of my chair. Why would my operating system what to trash a friend
    of mine?

just a few comments peeps .

when poeple keep down laoding latest fire walls , latest security down laods , its no different to how we operate cars .

when wehave a car , do we put racing breaks on it ?

do we put racing wheels on it ?

    we might do
but if you start doanlaoding the latest things for hard drive , its like putting a racing engine in a car with out putting the rest with it , ie racing breaks , wheels , fly wheels , clutches , fuel pumps , fuel lines etc .

down laods , especially upgrades , can be seriously bad for your computer , why do you think its such a massive industry ?

get a computer , keep it as it is .

to be safe , get two laptops . one perminantly on line , one perminantly off line for back up .

i have been on the net for one year , havent had a virus yet ! if something wrong happens , i pull the plug out , rip the batterry out , and reboot with reboot disk already inside disk drive , this kicks in reboot mode before any program can even be activated .

i may be niave , let alone know nothing of computers . but i dont have any of the problems any one else does . i dont even save anything on my hard drive . ok a few photos etc , not much , he rest goes on chip or drive , ie cd or dvd .

    hope this helps chaps !

I wish it where that simple ... I've been having these problems for well over 10 years now. The only way for me not to get into trouble is to not post my comments online.

That's really good advice axl, and I have been thinking of doing just that myself. I would be devasted if my writing were to be lost. I have a friend who does incredibly beautiful photoshop things. After having problems, she got a new computer for her photoshop, and only goes on line with her laptop. Guess it's the only really sure way to keep important things safe.
