You makin' up words also Project? You got 'snow-brain' like me?

Anyway, that's a pretty interesting little thingy google has put out. Wonder if the government is monitoring who uses it, and what 'weapons' they choose? The asteroid hit option was really an eye opener. I wish they had given what size asteroid though.

Yeah, same here. I remember reading that about the same time as RAMA.

It was interesting scanning Google Books Sci-Fi titles and seeing all those book covers. As I flipped through them all I was surprised to realize how many I've read.

It is actually a "mashup" someone did this themselves just using google maps as a base map for it.

Judee, it's one of the best books, and well worth the time to read it. There is a whole series, but the first book, Ender's Game, certainly can stand on it's own. I found the book in my 20's, and it is on my list of "annual reads". I keep hearing about a movie in the making - been hearing that for about 8 or 9 years now - we'll see. I'm terrified it won't do the book justice, but we'll see.

I had the pleasure of meeting the author, Orson Scott Card, at a book signing, and was not disappointed in the least when I met him in person - and I had very high expectations and, frankly, was a nervous wreck when I was standing in line to talk to him! We got to have a short conversation, and when I started talking to him he stood up, put his pen down, and looked me square in the eye. I had his full attention for our short exchange, and it was truly wonderful to meet one of my most favorite authors and not be disappointed!

He wrote another book called "The Worthing Saga", which is one of my favorites too. That is the book I talked to him about when I met him, and it is one of his least known, maybe that is why he listened so hard to me. Anyway, it was a real pleasure to be able to tell him why I loved his book and how much it meant to me, to be able to say in person, "thank you for writing this book."

Anyway - perhaps this is all for another thread, I don't know!
