How to Peel a Boiled Potato

Potato peeling is the biggest nuisance part of preparing potato salad. I can't wait to try it out. What do you think?

Run a sharp knife all the way around the middle of a spud. Boil it, skin on, until it is done--15 min. or so? Plunge the spud into ice water with ice cubes until it is cool enuf to handle with bare hands. Pick it up and with your opposite hands, give it a good firm twist. The peeling is supposed to break at the cut and slide off of both ends.

Anyone who can explain this procedure better than I can, please do!

Thank's Dera! That is a wonderful tip. I make a lot of potato salad in the summer, and that's a great idea! Hmm... I'm gonna practice first though!

You're right and I agree. However, I don't have them on hand all of the time, so your basic Idaho Russet works OK for potato salad IMO.
