I remember when i was a kid the first time i watched the original "Frankenstein" movie i liked it so much i dreamed the entire movie that night. Including the credits at the end.

My dreams have also evolved as i got older. "Flying" dreams for example. At first when i was really young i used to dream of flying with wings. As i got older i would fly like Superman. Now when i dream of flying i'm in a really fast jet.

I don't have nightmares. I call them really interesting dreams. In my dreams nothing scares me. I guess its because i have control.

    Lucid Dream Control

Yesterday,I felt really bad(another story) so I stayed home and chilled around the house. In the afternoon,I decided to take a nap because I felt so bad.As I lay there on the sofa,I drifted off into the hyphogogic state,or whatever you technically call it? I was still awake and consciouse as the imagery started to form.

I was suddenly in this very lucid dream, and very aware that I was on the sofa ,yet dreaming. It was a vivid picture of an almost glass smooth lake with many structures along the shores. As I flew over it,it began to slow down and almost come to a complete hault, but yet,I was still there.I decided to try and manipulate this lucid dream environment,so I decided to try and run this dream sequence backwards and see how much I could manipulate this event. As I began to travel backwards,I decided to veer off into new directions and explore things.I did this for a while and then I knew that I was ready for a true OBE experience,so I decided to get up from the sofa, not in the physical body, but the astral one.It worked quite easily as I have done this before.I had several experiences, but my aching body kept pulling me back before I could get very far.

I suppose to sum it all up,despite my feeling so terrible,I had a great day and learned a bit more. The problem for me is not getting out of body,it is staying out long enough to explore what i desire to.All you lucid dreamers and OBE people, chime in here and give your buddy some tips and methods for your own experiences.

I have had Lucid dreams but not the type you are talking about CB, mine are very earthly and usually about someone I know or something that is going on in my life currently.
The tip I can give you is to go to sleep with intention. If I want to dream about something I drift off thinking about whatever I want or a question I need answered. Some write it down on a piece of paper and put it under their pillow.

The first Lucid dream I remember was when I was about 5 years old, I was eating a cookie in my dream and my Mom woke me up, I wasn't very happy about it, I went back to sleep long enough to finish my cookie and than told myself to wake up, of course I didn't know at the time it was Lucid dreaming.

Thanks Shirley!I seem to have more OBE experiences than lucid dreams where I wake up within the dream and realize I am dreaming.I need to get back into a more regular routine, but for the last several months,I usually don't sleep but four to five hours,so that cuts into my practice time.

    "Kewl" is an understatement.
There is no greater feeling knowing that you can "fly over mountains and hills and you don't need an airplane or some kind of engine and you never will."
I've flown over an incredible canyon with a river far beneath. I've soared over the cliff at the edge of that canyon seeing a solitary log cabin.
And yes, moving through the water beneath the surface of the sea and being able to breathe it is astounding.
I haven't been into Space yet.

    This is a great thread.

It seems that everyone's lucid dreaming experience is different and this is what is so fascinating for me.

I've never had an OBE ....I think the closest I ever get is feeling an increase in vibration ....almost like a pulsing energy, but it stops right there, no matter how much I try to clear my mind, relax and just go with it.

    But lucid dreams, oh yes.

Often, they seem brighter, with almost an electical component to them. They usually aren't about anything that's familiar to me, yet are often ones of challenging and dangerous situations where I realize that I can jump off high builiding or mountains, fly, slow down the dream sequence so that it seems like it's in slow motion.

Like you Shirley, I have been able to wake up from a dream, and will myself to go back to sleep and continue it.

I'm seriously thinking of starting a dream journal, in an attempt to understand what these lucid and non lucid astral experiences are telling me....has anyone had any success with that?

I've had a few OBE's. They can be quite startling, especially when you return to your body. You have the feeling that you have fallen about an inch or so and your body jerks itself awake.

Stewart told me that once when was critically ill with a staph infection, he had an OBE in which he rose from his bead and went into the living room of his apartment to where a couple of his friends were talking. He tried to talk to them because they couldn't hear or see him. When he turned around, he saw a luminous cord leading from his astral body to his earthly body. He was so startled he snapped back into his body. It was at that moment that one of his friends came to check on him, had a sense that Stewart was terribly ill and took him to the hospital where he was treated for the infection, observed and then released.

Alpha starting a Dream Journal is great, but the thing you have to do is keep pencil and paper next to your bed and write down what you remember as soon as you wake, if you wait you lose too much and than is difficult to interpet your dreams. You can always transfer it to your journal later.

One little thing, if you dream of death or dying it usually means a change is coming or you need to change something about yourself, it doesn't always have to be scary.

    CK,

That is called 'the silver cord',and is even mentioned in old testament verses. It always connects the physical body to the astral body and can also transmit information both ways.If you are out of body, and some crashing noise happens in or near the physical body, this information will be transmitted in an instant and bring you back so you can and do wake up.You can be far away in the galaxy and come back in an instant if the need arises.

The silver cord will remain attached until our time to leave this earthly realm for good, then it is cut loose and the true essence is freed from this earthly plane.

I keep a pen and paper next to my bed on the end table as well as my trusty microcassette tape recorder.

I've heard that before CB. Do you know where it's referenced?
