    Rose Petal Jam (For stress/hypertension)

I was making a batch of this up. My hubby just got a 10% pay cut. We were lucky, most folks lost 20-40% of their pay. Still, it is stressful, and he will not take Western Medicine. So I treat his blood pressure and stress with naturalpathy.

This is an ayurvedic treatment for stress, and it helps the stress that contributes to high bp in particular.

    Rose Petal Jam
1 cup fresh rose petals (must never have been sprayed with any chemicals) 3/4 cup water
    Juice of 1 lemon
    2 1/2 cups sugar,
1 package pectin (ie. Sure Jell)
    3/4 cup water

Puree rose petals, 3/4 cup water and lemon juice in blender until smooth. Slowly add sugar. Blend till all sugar has dissolved; (leave in blender) Stir 1 package pectin into 3/4 cup water, bring to a boil, and boil hard for 1 minute. Pour mixture into blender with rose petal mixture until well blended. Do this very quickly - it sets up FAST!! Pour into clean small jars. Let set for 6 hours, till firm. Will keep one month in refrigerator. Freezes well.

That sure looks easy to make Hadriana. Can less sugar be used? My BP runs high at times also, and I absolutely refuse to use the drugs. I tried some, and they almost killed me - literally!!!

Well, the sugar is one of the preservatives so I wouldn't skimp.
I assume you do take garlic already?
That's probably the most important one for hypertension.

The rose jelly is for the stress that contributes to it.
Fenugreek seeds are another good one for it.

There's a few to look into: gokshura, buchu, hawthorne, pig weed root (too high for me!), dandelion is cheaper - Depends on if you need a diuretic or not. Corn silk is another common diuretic. (Just off the top of my head.)

Another reason for me to look forward to Spring/Summer/Fall and the WeekEnd Market Down Town. There are folks who come in from The Valley with all kinds of locally grown organic herbs, herbal teas, tiny dried rose buds and rose petals. I'll make that jam, thanks!
