    Cleansing Practice & Methodologies

We have come across the "practice" of cleansing a bunch over the years and most recently here in this thread:

    True Story

I have read a bunch about this practice, yet I have no practical experience with it, however would like to.

For those of you who have done this, are well versed and well read on the topic, would you please post your methods and insights here so we can all grow and learn.

Do unto Others as you would have them do unto you

    Great...so do most of us...atleast once a day ...

So.... you don't believe in the possibility or herb, nature, reality, the cosmos and the dance/relationship wiithin? ....the marriage of many of these traditions passed down over centuries?

Do unto Others as you would have them do unto you

Well. I gotta read that post first.

    Oh. Ok. Gotcha. That. Yeah.

I was going to say, that bathing 2 times a day is cleansing. Water is cleansing. So is mud. The best cleansing I ever had was with aryvedic dirt followed by a shower. Usually though, if I feel dirty, like astrally dirty, I simply scrub down with salt in the shower.
Before ritual I tend to just do this - but we also put herbs at the edge of our circle, before the challenge point, and our larger group that we join at times does this as well. When you are out deep in the woods and lucky to have a porta potty, you can't very well shower easily, so cleansing and purification is done via a good smoking of sage usually.

So that's for that sort of cleansing.
I wrote this long thing and then went back and realized this was a farm house and NOT that apartment in New Orleans that lady was having problems with. I had got on the wrong thread somehow.
Sage should do the trick in this place, I'd think. You've felt no fear here?

I'd grab some chunks of citine rock, and decorate with them. Grapevine wreaths and witch grass for happiness. That's the class of herbs I'd focus on, if you've felt no fear - herbs for happiness.

    ---------------------------------

If anyone is interested, here's what I'd written thinking this was a place that had been exposed to a lot of questionable magick practices

    ----------------------------------
For a house. A lot of people use sage. That's generic. I've done a few cleansings though that the nature of the problem did not call for merely Sage. I recall one house - there was an issue, a lonely spot in the house that was attracting negative spirit activity. I had the owner keep a plant there, and some bright silk flowers and a bowl of cloves. The silk flowers were merely psychological - for the humans in the house, but the cloves were to discourage this young spirit from manifesting. Cloves are actually often better than Sage for driving off spirits. People often don't like the smell, lol, think spirits would be any different? Oh, that was funny - I gave this young woman some spray with clove essential oil - it was actually good for her courage too, b/c as I understand it, until she got comfortable in the home again, she was spraying her ghost like crazy. I found it strangely funny - like someone spraying a pet that misbehaves with water. (the problem here was a very young confused ghost boy- he wasn't malicious, but he was young and fearful himself and he'd have tantrums) So it was empowering for her, and that's important. That in itself has a positive effect on damping unwanted activity and protecting people.

I also asked the owner to quit keeping her baby's bassinet there. It has been years, and they have been back in that house and happy for several years now. Before they could not even stay the night for fear.

Another place, I had the owner remove her crystals from a certain area. Crystals are great, but some things you don't NEED to amplify. Might want to watch the crystals at a place like this, too.

I'd really best LOOK/FEEL of any place to say what I'd do, but it sounds as though the atmosphere might need lightening up. If it were my place, I'd probably want to clean it with salt, perhaps keep some salt around, and perhaps keep some basil cut like flowers in vases, and perhaps burn some basil, frankincense, dragon's blood, or myhrr. Decorate with a bowl of walnuts here and there.

Another thing I find highly effective is to wait for a good thunder storm - and open the windows and doors right before it wide - and get air moving through the place -with fans if needed. The ions that form during this time are very good for cleansing...dirt of the astral kind. I can see it in the trees and plants - the auras will be so much brighter, as if all the junk is cleared. It happens even if good rain doesn't come, merely the thunder/lligtening, so I know it is not just the effect of getting a good drink of water.

Sorry for my confusion, but are you asking about cleansing a space, object, or a cleansing of yourself? Or are you interested in all?
