Well, I am not saying anyone should get this, but I have

    Recorder:
    http://www.archos.com/products/tv_ce...global&lang=en

    Microphone:
    http://www.soundprofessionals.com/cg...tem/SP-MICRO-1
(these guys are AWESOME for sound equipment, but be prepared to pay for it)

    Video Camera:
    http://www.archos.com/products/acces...global&lang=en
    (first product)

Around a grand all told... but the Archos is actually a DVR (like a tivo), plus much more, so it is not as bad a deal as it sounds... it is a 'convergence' device.

Bravo on the Arcos P :-) while I dont own one myself (YET), I have had the pleasure of handling many of their media devices. very sweet indeed.

and as far as attempting evp, has anyone given it a shot?

I have tried ITC once looping a laptop to a cam. No real results but it was interesting to attempt. and analysis of the footage can take hours if you do infact discover any possible "anomalies" reviewing it frame by frame.

and as far as EVP is concerned, I have dabbled in that as well. Me personally I have not collected any legit Class A or B EVPs but have been present in rooms where others were recording and were able to capture voices and sounds (using both digital and mini tape recoders) that were not audible to our naked ears at that moment. It is definently interesting to try to make heads or tails of things once I have found questionable footage, doing my best to rule out all logical reasons and causes for this or that. But occassionally there is something that simply cannot be explained- that is where it becomes intriguing to me.

I record WAY too much. I have a camcorder running almost constantly when I am travelling, I have sound being recorded using archos (I like to have sound samples of beaches and forests, even if it is seemingly quiet), plus I take thousands of pix. I like to explore old houses, graveyards, spooky swamps etc...

    I have nothing recorded I can't explain.

I have a sinking feeling that most if not all the EVPs are due to a less-than-solid understanding of recording mechanisms and audio glitches... They are not necessarily random noise, but they are certainly not scientific in any way either. I am on the fence still, would love to see some real science thrown this way.

PS: The Archos AV500 is AWESOME. It has already travelled many thousands of kms with me, and not treated too well either. It is flawless, and I have really appreciated being able to either record or watch video no matter where I am. Mostly, it is my mp3 player when I am in town. DO NOT buy an iPod! You can't imagine what you are missing!

oooh la la! The AV500! I have been eyeing that jem for a little bit now! Its specs are remarkable.....

I think I may wholeheartedly agree with your sinking feeling Project. The combination of lack of proper equipment use in conjunction with an even larger lack of education on all of the possible causes for these supposed EVPs makes for pitiful and unsupportable results. I am involved in a paranormal research and investigations group and have been attempting EVP work for two years now and have yet to capture any EVPs that cannot be rationally explained. I believe the possibility is there, and I have been present when seemingly unexplainable sounds have been captured via digital recorder.

I also believe that a bulk of these EVPs that I have reviewed on various webpages are a big case of Pareidolia. As humans we can't help but search for familiar aspects in unfamiliar circumstances. Sounds from a hissing radiator making an "S" sound. During the evaluation process that radiator incident is forgotten about and the person reviewing the audio gets excited thinking the S sound is the word YES or something to that extent.

Don't get me wrong, im not dogging out anyone's methods.... I myself have been excited by a possible unexplainable sound.... REALLY excited.... and then later on remember or am told by a second/third opinion that it is just a squeaky door or a cat hissing

On another note, I did attempt some ITC experimentation last weekend looping a digital video recorder with a laptop. Boy it is sure exhausting reviewing all that stuff frame by frame! No luck so far.... but one of these days....... one of these days (I hope).....

I was planning a trip to the Bell Witch Cave in the next few days, but they are closed till spring. I will therefore head over to the "Stones River Battlefield". I will also be going back to the historic Mt. Olivet cemetery for some additional EVP possibilities. Wish I knew what software to use on a laptop, as it is new, but also have digital recorders as well as cameras.

    Any advice will be appreciated!

I don't think I will be doing any more EVP research as too many strange things already happen in my small little corner of the world. Besides, I think it is even more dangerous to do alone.

I agree, Cap. Never alone. First of all, there is a credibly issue. If you have a witness, it helps in the scope of the investigation.

Second (more important) is safety. The main thing is that you don't know whom might be lurking in old buildings or cemeterys. I've encountered bums, lovers, and kids doing drugs. In each case there is a fight or flight situation that occurs on one or the other side.

However, I was EVP "fishing" once, alone at a park, and got myself into a rather nasty spirit who I believe was trying to back me blindly over the edge of a canal onto rocks. I think it's wise to travel together, and not split up.

As far as stuff following us home, my friend Bill always performs a sequence of rites to prevent this.

My problems at home have been going on for many years. Usually, while in bed, I become paralyzed, then things begin to happen. The worst so far have been having the covers yanked off me, being drug off the bed by my ankles, and being stood straight up in the bed with arms stretched out.

I try and not show any fear but it gets really creepy sometimes, not to mention all the strange sounds.

Perhaps its the same spirit that my father evoked with the Ouija many years ago. It could also be some very strange sessions of Reiki from a few years back. Many strange thing went on there, including some channeling. Although I was present, I never took part in the channeling.

I know money is tight, but you should try to find some way to have the home cleansed, letting the spirit know that what they are doing is not acceptable or appropriate.

It's not a home attachment. It is attached to me I think. It may go way back to my childhood. I experienced many things exactly as Whitley Strieber did, including being taken from my bed and many things described years later in Communion. Way back in the sixties.

Been a strange life ever since. Missing time, many experiences with out of body journeys, strange thoughts or vision that seem to come from nowhere.
