Unusual 800,000km Dark Rift Appears On The Sun - Earth In Danger?





August 11, 2012 - The Sun's odd behavior has been mentioned on many occasions recently. As we all await the Solar Cycle 24, scientists keep a close eye on the Sun.

On the surface of the sun there has appeared a huge dark formation the likes of which has never previously been seen by scientists.

It is a dark band, or a crack, with a length of about 800,000 kilometers!

The dark area was photographed by U.S. astronauts and NASA experts are now trying to clarify the nature of the very unusual phenomenon.

According to scientists, it is most likely a cluster of dense cold gas, which is being kept on the surface of the celestial body by magnetic fields.

The formation may be dark because its temperature is much lower than the temperature of the sun.

Astrophysicists presume dark spots on the Sun are areas where the temperature is lower. However what we see here is not a normal sunspot and it is growing at an alarming rate.

According to researchers the region has increased to almost one million kilometers in just three days.

NASA forecasts that in September 2012, there might be outbreaks of unprecedented power. We can expect huge solar flares that can have serious effect world-wide.

Commenting on the study of the dangers of "space weather", astrophysicist Daniel Baker claimed that the effects will be comparable to a nuclear war or the fall of a giant asteroid. However, in terms of power grids and satellites, it's not the flares that the experts have to worry about, but the CMEs.

There is a risk that one day, they can wipe out all of our electronic civilization.

Wow, I am amazed about how long this thread has been running. As long as the sun is there I guess so will this thread. This has probably been brought up already but has anyone noticed every so often the feeling, usually on the sun side of the body what feels like an insect biting you. Like a sting. You look and there's nothing. I think it may be cosmic rays plowing through the weakened magnetic field and striking us. Maybe even passing right through our bodies. Breaking DNA strands as they go. Lucus is right. Because of the increase in cosmic and solar radiation cancer has and will continue to increase. We are in for some fun times.

Yes, BE, I've been noticing that for years now. It becomes very painful for me to sit in the sun. We had temps. up to 100F for a couple of days, and I could barely walk through the sun to get to the peacock feeding station. There are McNasties from the sun getting through our magnetic field IMO, but it's not being talked about. And yes, skin cancer is sky rocketing for sure. That is being talked about. I am actually going to get myself a sunbrella for when I go out scouting junk stores, etc.

There's nothing wrong with bringing it up from time to time, Blackeyes! Like Judee, I've been reporting for more than a decade, ever since we moved up here to Alaska, how the sun feels so warm on my skin, even when temps are mid 50's ºF !!

That's a good idea, Judee, to get a parasol. It's a good idea for us to wear hats with big brims. The sun has really been acting up.

The sun is getting worse by the day now. I was out early this morning and as soon as the sun broke through the clouds it felt intense. Too intense. Like come on, I'm in Canada and we used to need baby oil up here to get a tan. Now it feels like I'm being microwaved. The magnetic field is so weak at the pole (the hole) that we are quite literately being cooked. I've noticed as well I'm tanning through my clothes. That's not normal. There's more advertising for UV clothing these days. What?? They make it sound like it's NOW time to protect ourselves from the DANGEROUS EFFECTS of the sun. What?? Since when has the sun become dangerous? If it was so dangerous nothing should have evolved on this planet.

Also, as some may or may not know, the atmosphere is thinner the further North and South you go. The atmosphere bulges at the equator, where the Tropopause, the boundary between the Troposphere (the air from ground up) and the Stratosphere, is generally at 45,000 ft more or less. Way NupNorth that Tropopause is only about 25,000 feet high more or less. Soooooo we have thinner ozone layer, as BE pointed out and thinner atmosphere, to protect us.
And yet for all that, I still have this (irrational???) feeling, belief, that Alaska is somehow Blessed, so here I will stay. Or die when the crust shifts and the floods come.
