    Happy 4th, everyone!

Some observations ---- people were in a great mood at work on Friday anticipating the holiday weekend. Everyone I know had plans for get togethers with friends or families, with lots of cooking planned. I hung out with my boyfriend - we listened to music and made cheeseburgers.

At this moment there are firecrackers going off outside, and people walking down to the beach to see the big fireworks show over the Queen Mary. Everyone I have talked to this weekend said "Happy 4th of July" and were in a good mood.

Yes, it is easy to get so gloom and doom these days, and for good reasons. But I know there are other countries where daily life is much, much harder. Yes, we have problems here, and no it isn't perfect - far from it. But I feel lucky to be an American, especially at this point in our very interesting history.

Happy Independence Day to my fellow Americans.

Hope our neighbours to the south enjoyed the celebrations. Digressing a bit, I remember the bi-centennial year quite well all those years ago as it was put in the public consciousness up here throughout the year. I was 14 at the time and thought it was all pretty cool to have a year long celebration like that.

    Enjoy!!
