Robert - The "Haunted" Doll

George and Joshua P Warren did a short segment last night, July 16, 2010, on Robert the Haunted Doll.

Apparently Joshua will be doing an in depth investigation on this strange doll and the manifests and surround phenomenon in early August and will be giving a full report back on Coast.

This is a pretty interesting case IMO.

We were having a bit of a conversation in the TO last night about what this could really be.

ROBERT--- The Haunted Doll ...

Its not that unusual for a young child to have an imaginary friend or two. Often times parents think it cute? A mischievous little friend a foot to take the blame for some minor wrong doings.

In fact there are parents' that will claim a good imagination is healthy,
but what happens when the child begins to be tormented by the imaginary friend? To the point that the child can't sleep the night through without the friend awaking them to play? What happens when the play becomes ruff and frightening to the child?

So it goes this is the story of Robert...

The story begins in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Otto, the year 1896. It was well known that the Otto's mistreated there servant's, and were not the kindest of people.

One particular servant, that aided in the care of the couples son "Robert Eugene" (Gene) was said to be versed in the ways of voodoo. As the story goes the servant gave young Gene a doll. The doll stood three feet tall, and was stuffed with straw. The servant gave the doll life like features, that at first were very endearing to young Gene.

Gene decided to name the doll Robert. The doll became a constant companion to the little boy. Its said that the Otto's often heard Gene upstairs talking to the doll. This in itself might not have been so bad? What unsettled and puzzled the Otto's was hearing their son answering himself in an entirely different voice
than his own?

Many Strange things began to occur in the Otto household. Frequently Neighbors' claimed to see Robert move about from window to window, when the family was out of the house. Gene began to blame Robert for mishaps that would occur. The Otto's claimed to hear the doll giggle, and swear they caught glimpses of the doll running about the house.

Gene began to have nightmare's, and scream out in the night. When his parents would respond to Gene's cries, they often found furniture over turned, and their child in a fright. As a rule they would find Robert the doll at the foot of their sons bed - with his glaring gaze on his face! With Gene shouting,"Robert Did It"....

The doll was eventually put up in the attic. Where he resided for many years..............

So what is it? Voodo Curse? Haunting? Entity Possesion?....or? ...what do you think?

Well, this is partly a repeat of what I said on the TO, but here goes. I think it is an entity possession that happened due to a ritual of magick for evil purposes. Robert is one of the scariest of all stories, partly due to strong evidence of it being true. The most compelling evidence for me is the fact that his hair, taken from the boy, Gene, had turned white with old age. That is not a matter for debate, it has happened.

The two most frightening stories of "hauntinings" to me are this story and the Bell Witch. Neither of which I think are deceased human entities, but some other being. Then again, the fact that he is "aging" suggests some entity with a lifespan....hmmmmm.

And if he is getting old, will he "die" someday?"

Below is a cut and paste from what I said on the TO discussion last night. This is why I think Robert has an entity and it is not some other form of negative magick. I am curious what Hadriana, or others who practice magick think on the topic!

This is just my take on how negaitve magick works- like curses. When you throw energy at someone, they have a living energy that naturally combats it. All the love and positivness in their lives is a guard. Their spiritually is another guard. Positive energy is easier to maintain by its nature. The negaitiviity tends to get diffused, diluted in the energies of the world over time. You have to reinforce the spell every so often to keep it strong. Because it is being thrown in a sea of the other energies that naturally combat it.

You CAN certainly throw a stong curse, don't get me wrong. Magick is a force like fire. It can be used for good or ill. But eventualy a destructive fire will run across other forces that weaken it over time. Rain, or simply runnign out of fuel to feed it.

Again, this is why I am dubious of most claims of a curse that lasts for years. Not sayign it can't happen, but I think it is rare.

Other people who practice magick may disagree, but that is my take.

But if you put a living entity into a doll, it keeps alive wiith its own energy of that spirit!

Thanks for starting the Thread, I was too tired last night to do it myself. Yup, Friday night/Saturday morn we had a lively discussion in the TO.
I don't know much about curses and all I know about Possession is possession of living things, that I learned from Fr Malachi Martin.
So far I tend to agree with aaradia, if only because what she says makes sense to me. An Entity that covets a body in which to dwell just might agree to a body that will never die.
Looking forward to more discussion here!

Can't they just haul Robert to a hazmat dump or something??? I mean, haunted dolls don't have any Constitutional rights.

I guess we've got to keep this creepy thing around, so that we know what makes him tick, in the same way that psychologists study serial killers imprisoned for life.

Even during his best days, I'll betcha that this doll wasn't very pleasant-looking!!! (I'm afraid to watch any videos. I'll trust Josh's eyewitness account.)

this is just awful...but, i was going to put some pics of robert on here...but i couldnt do it...robert is not a warm fuzzy doll...it creeped me out......

this doll makes me happy, i loved my little troll doll just like this....puts a happy in my head over the creepy that robert left there...sheesh...its just a doll right????
