I just saw this on the internet and saw the post here. It's an amazing piece of footage, don't you think?

If the lady has traveled through time back to 1920, then her cell phone would not be able to complete a call (even if a second, unseen traveler were present with a second phone) due to lack of "cell" infrastructure.

At the very least, it would have to be radio based technology, such as a walkie-talkie.

    Right?

That sounds right to me, Squid, but what if she was from the far future and went back to the 1920's? She could have some other sort of technology....no?

Yes, I would say that is more probable than the concept that she is using a "cell phone" as we know cell phones, today. Unless she also brought a repeater, and a bunch of other hardware - but for each additional component we add to the list of things she would need to "bring" in order to legitimize the hypothetical scenario of the film maker, the scenario becomes less probable I think.

Have you seen the size of 1st generation cell phones in the 90s ?... too huge. This person could have been talking to a base somewhere on earth or ship overhead. We could probably come up with hundreds of scenarios... this is very strange and every outlandish idea based on the extraterrestrial could be just a little bit right. Many without imagination would have trouble thinking outside the box, but the evidence of something strange is right in front of us. Good mystery!!

    There is a glaring inconsistency:
"In February 1960 the US detected an unknown object in polar orbit, a feat that neither they or the USSR had been able to accomplish. As if that wasn't enough, it apparently was several sizes larger than anything either country would have been able to get off the ground.

People on the ground had been occasionally seeing it for about two weeks at that point. Viewers would make it out as a red glowing object moving in an east-to-west orbit. Most satellites of the time, according to what little material I've been able to find on the black knight satellite, moved from west-to-east. It's speed was also about three times normal. A committee was formed to examine it, but nothing more was ever made public.
    (Italics mine)
"Polar Orbit" means a satellite orbits from pole to pole, ie North to South to North to South and so on. Whatever those viewers saw moving East to West would not be the same satellite.

Here's the pitfall: when we see something so unusual we want to define it in 20th Century Terms If this person in the Chaplin film is from somewhere on sometime else then any technology they have with them is probably NOT as "primitive" as a cell phone.
We have got to stop guessing what a Time Traveler or an ET would do based on our own experience and paradigm. It's like an elephant observing an ant and be puzzled at why the ant doesn't do the things an elephant does.

The big, heavy coat worn by that person, those big shoes, may or may not be, further clues.
Maybe that person has crippling arthritis and was scratching his or her? face.

Just for the heck of it I thought I'd bump this Thread. Maybe we have some new members with some ideas/opinions about this? Or current members with some new ideas?
