    Amish Sugar Cookies

I've used this recipe for the last 25 years when baking for a crowd or cookie exchange. These cookies must be frosted with the recipe I'll include or they won't taste good, and absolutely no substitutions.

Makes over 5 doz ... I usually get an average 100 cookies based on the size of the cookie cutter I use.

    1 1/4 C. Butter
    5 C. Flour
    1 tsp Nutmeg
    2 C. Sugar
    1 tsp Salt
    1/2 C. Milk
    2 Eggs
    4 tsp Baking Powder

Cream butter and sugar, add eggs and beat til fluffy. Stir in dry ingredients alternate with milk to cream mixture.
If dough too sticky add more flour. Roll to 1/4 inch thick on floured surface. Bake on an ungreased cookie sheet
    @ 375 degrees for about 8 minutes.

    Frosting
    1/3 C. Butter
    2 C. Powdered Sugar
    1 1/2 tsp Vanilla
    2 Tablespoons milk

This is truly a family event to bake and frost em all! Enjoy

There are the best frosted holiday cookies as long as you follow the recipe with the frosting. Without the frosting I can assure you no one will eat em.
