Ingredients


  • 4 slices bacon, chopped
  • 1 pound dry black-eyed peas
  • 6 cups water
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 (14.5 ounce) can diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 1 jalapeno pepper, finely chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • salt to taste

Fry out the bacon and drain the grease off. Add the other stuff. Cook. Eat. Good luck. BTW, I don't put a jalpeno pepper in mine. Or the chili powder...but, check with the Western Southerners...I'm more Eastern.
