I have a question.
I have been storing a lot of organic grain and beans.
Since part of the definition of the word organic is that it isn't GMO,,,,would these be possibly a cool and less expensive way to purchase non-gmo seeds?

i think mary planted beans she bought at the grocery store, ....i think you could plant them and be ok
I think so to,,,but I think so more now that you guys agree with me.
I already have a bunch of GMO rice and beans crap.
Buying the organic stuff from the bulk section is more,,,but there are more diverse cereals,,,they are better for you,,,and I think it possible to have sustained agro from it.
And like you said Judee,,,it's cheaper than buying packaged seed.
I just filled a five gallon jug with beans and another one with diverse cereal graiins,,alll organic.
Marco, there's a 100% way to know for sure if the beans and grains you are buying would grow in a garden. Simply sprout a few of the beans and a few of the grains. Rinse them and keep them moist. You should have your answer quickly!
Oh, and let me add that in times of food shortages, sprouted grains and beans are a very high source of fabulous nutrition! They don't have to be 'planted'. Sprouting is something very easily done inside, and doesn't require sunlight or land.
