Welcome to IW StarMeg, hope you enjoy the time you spend here!
I started listening to Coast over a year ago, working nights as a security officer. When I could, I'd listen to the radio to help me stay awake. And those music only radio stations irritate me a lot, playing the same freakin things over and over and over... ugh! When I first heard Coast, I was like O.o then it kind of grew on me. Now I'm hooked, I can't stop listening to it. Unless I get really irritated, like the Numbers Lady, she gets on my nerves with this talk about Numerology being a Science of Numbers. Makes me upset enough to throw things. Anyway, other than that, I really enjoy Coast.![]()
Hmmmm...I'm guessing it was around 1994-5 or so. I remember a friend of mine was an avid listener and gave me a copy of the book, "The Montauk Project." Of course, back then it was "The Art Bell Show"
I wasn't able to listen often in those days, but in about 1998 my wife took a job on the road and I became a stay-at-home dad. It became a Friday night tradition for me to stay up as late as possible and listen...and get very creeped out. I remember when you could listen online for free, even.
Streamlink has been huge for me. It's a great way to listen whenever I can during the day. I also love my ipod, which enables me to play stuff at double speed, so I get through the show in record time.![]()

I don't recall who was on the first night I listened. Might have been Davenport or Greer or Gersten, something with a UFO theme. Basically, I recall years ago listening to a Larry King show about UFO's, so I was looking for a show like that one night. Anyway, the show that made me a fan had Richard C. Hoagland as a guest. I've been a fan of the show ever since, though I didn't listen much when Siegel was the host.

Something happened a little while ago that made me realize with certainty why I am uncomfortable with listening to Art Bell when he hosts C2C the odd time these days... I was blow drying my hair, and I flipped the radio in the bathroom on. It was Almost 8:30 PM. Imagine my surprise to hear Art's voice! He was talking to Ed Dames, and that old familiar enthusiam and joy for what he was doing came through loud and clear. He exuded energy and immersed himself in the topic. THAT was the Art I used to love listening to!!! As it turned out, it was a show from 1997. These days and for some time now, to me his voice is 'dead'. I don't know any other way to express what I feel. It's like the old Art Bell is no longer home, and I can't bear to listen.![]()
