Earth de-population project

I was a student in high school back in the early 1970’s in the San Francisco bay area.

College age kids were up in the Haight / Ashbury district, .. dropping acid and making love.
My cousins who were over 18 were all away in Viet Nam, .. sending strange letters back home every few weeks.
And a great many kids in my high school class were “distracted” and “strung out” because of substances that they were imbibing, ... although I didn’t know the full extent of it at the time.
If you weren’t using the stuff yourself, ... you were “out of the loop” ... secrecy being what it is and all.

My biology teacher, ... every semester from 1969 through 1979 ... had a semester long, in class, assignment .. that he said was the most important educational assignment we would ever do in our lives.
IF each of us was bright enough to understand the implications of the assignment.

Each of us was given:
• a little glass Gerber baby food jar
• a strong, thick, rubber band
• a three inch square piece of nylon cheese-cloth
• and a sugar cube

Our teacher went to a local fruit orchard, ... and set up a special fruit fly trap that collected several dozens of fruit flies before the semester began.
He kept a large colony of fruit flies in a special terrarium in his office.
The large population was needed to conduct this assignment with his class each semester.

He used some cloth from a bed sheet, and a few drops of either in order to knock out a sampling of fruit flies that he collected into a “transfer jar” from the terrarium.

Before the first day of class, .. our instructor took each unconscious fruit fly out of the transfer jar (using a pair of tweezers) and looked at it under a powerful magnifying glass to see if it was male or female.

Each student was given one unconscious male and one unconscious female fruit fly.

The fruit flies were placed on top of the sugar cube inside of the Gerber baby food jar.
An eye dropper was used to add a tablespoon or so of water to the bottom of the jar.
The nylon cheese-cloth was then placed on the jar as a lid, ... with the rubber band holding it tightly in place.

Each student wrote his / her name on a piece of masking tape on the side of his / her jar.

The jars filled the counter next to the window of the classroom, ... a place that received indirect sunlight.

Our assignment:
Get a composition book, ... and take daily notes on what events were transpiring in our Gerber baby food jar.

After a few hours, .. the male and female fruit flies woke up ... and began buzzing around inside of their jar.
Drinking the water, and feeding on the wet sugar.

After a week or two, .... the fruit flies began having sex on a regular basis.

Soon there after, ... little piles of fruit fly larvae began appearing at the edge of the water in the bottom of the jar, ... along with fruit fly excrement.

Within a few weeks, ... the larvae had grown into adult fruit flies that were buzzing around inside the jar.

Soon, ... they too began having sex on a regular basis.
Larger piles of fruit fly larvae began appearing at the edge of the water in the bottom of the jar, ... along with larger amounts of fruit fly excrement.

The sugar cube was getting smaller, ... the water was getting brown and thick.

By the end of the semester, .. all life in each Gerber baby food jar had died.
The sugar cube, and the clean, clear, tablespoon of water, ... had been replaced by a large mass of dead fruit fly bodies, and fruit fly excrement.

Our instructor asked us to imagine, for a moment, that the Gerber baby food jar was a planet.
“Planet Fruit Fly”.

Just like the little Gerber baby food jar, ... planet Earth is a closed eco-system containing insignificant fruit fly like creatures known as “MANKIND”.

“MANKIND” shares the planet with a great many other creatures great and small as well.
But, ... no matter.
It is “MANKIND” who prides “himself” on being a “thinking animal”.

Our instructor wrote a number on the chalkboard.

2.8 BILLION.

(The total known population of man on Earth in 1972)

He then told us that within ten years or so, ... that number would increase to something like 4 BILLION.

”There is a limited amount of food, water, and living space on this planet.
The fruit fly’s fresh water became contaminated with fruit fly poo poo.
The same thing has been happening to the fresh water supply here in the bay area as more babies are born, .. and more families of human fruit flies take up residence here.

The oceans are large, ... but they are finite.

The planet is large, ... but it is finite.

If we don’t voluntarily control the number of children we give birth to, ... eventually, ... our planet Earth will share the same fate as “planet fruit fly”.

All that is natural and beautiful will be replaced with human fruit fly poo poo, .. and rotting human fruit fly corpses, ... in the giant garbage dump: Earth.”

The last time I checked, ... the human population of Earth was something like 6 BILLION.

And folks like Art Bell wonder why diseases seem to be getting spread intentionally by the C.D.C. and other agencies?
Why MAD COW disease, ... a disease that is preventable, ... is being intentionally spread throughout our food and pharmaceutical supply?
And why we are currently engaging in starting up a WORLD WAR for no apparent reason?

I mean, ... our own government would NEVER have murdered all of those thousands of civilians on 9-11-2001 .. and used this lame excuse as a basis for starting up a WORLD WAR intentionally, would they?!

I mean ... why would they WANT to kill off a few billion people??!!

IT MAKES NO SENSE!
RIGHT?

Personally, .. I keep on remembering John Titor's comment:
"Did you ever stop to think that maybe you'd all be better off if 3 or 4 billion of you were dead?"
... or something to that effect.

In John Titor's world, ... 4 billion people die in a nuclear / atomic world war that takes place sometime around 2015.

If periodic "adjustments" are made to our "timeline" as our good friend John Lear once suggested, long ago .... then such a world war depopulating event could be avoided.

Maybe the new American Civil War that began breaking out on the fall of 2005 in John Titor's world won't happen over here.

... as for myself: I'm ready to go any time.

I'm happy with the life that I've lead, .. and I have no problem with saying good-bye to it at a moment's notice.

It's my niece and nephew, .. and the fate of the infants of the world that troubles me.

I'm looking forward to Spiri-Comm devices becoming available at Radio Shack in the near future.
If there really is a form of waking consciousness on the other side, ... hearing from those residing over there may be of some little help to all of us who are soon to arrive.

Gormworm, I agree with you completely that over-population is the #1 threat to the survival of Gaia. Not only that, I believe that it is also the #1 threat to the survival of America as well.

I never performed the biology experiment that you did, but I have read about experiments like it and I have seen the charts and the graphs that plot the results. For quite some time, I have been stating (in another Net forum, which will remain nameless) that we are facing an era of Great Dying (a term taken, as you probably know, from the Permian Extinction Event of 250 million years ago, when 96% of the earth's species suddenly passed away). I have been subject to a great deal of ridicule on that forum for my position, but I have never doubted its reality and I have based my idea on concepts derived from the experiment that you have outlined in your posts.

We are told that, at the very least, the earth's population will begin to level off at 11 billion people sometime in the middle of the 21st century. But, in a planet of exhausting natural resources, this is far too little and far too late. The situation is not that much better in the United States of America. In 1900, the population of America was 80 million people --- and this apparently was the real number, at least approximately, because of the lack of immigration restrictions for entry into the United States at that time. It took the United States another sixty years until it gained its next 100 million people (for a total of 180 million in 1960, when I was eleven years old). But it took the United States only another forty years until it gained its next 100 million people (for a total of 280 million in 2000) --- and this figure does not take into account the tens of millions of illegal immigrants who have been tacitly welcomed by the American ruling class into the United States in order to turn the whole place into a capitalist paradise.

The problem here is that everyone wants to have "kids" and everybody thinks that they have the divine right to have as many "kids" as they want. In spite of their pretentions to (mostly fundamentalist) spirituality, most people actually and instinctually assume that the only immortality that they are actually going to get will be the immortality of their genes through progeny. We are told in our youth, with a wink and with a smirk, that the most implacable force in the universe is a horny guy or girl who wants to get laid. But that sexual force in youth is nothing in comparison with the procreative force that overtakes an older man or woman when the deeply-repressed thought of death first forces itself upon his or her attention. Then the desire to have children becomes an obsession, against which no countervaling thoughts are allowed to obtrude. And it really does not matter that, with each passing generation, the "genetic load" of defective genes within the human race gets wider and heavily, or that, in our present political climate, everything that is done to "save the unborn" but releases them into a Darwinian struggle-for-existence the moment that they are born! Nothing obtrudes. I have seen it, up front and personal, for decades.

So what do we do? How do we end that suicidal procreative urge without destroying the dignity of the human spirit? I cannot answer the question, Gormworm, and I greatly fear that the right and to power to answer it is shortly going to be taken out of our collective hands. For the Great Dying draws apace. And, like many events in the human situation (e.g. the Titanic disaster of 1912 or the Aberfan coal-slide disaster of 1966), it radiates its approach backwards in time. Yes, the 18th century poet was right: "coming events cast their shadows before." And much of the fear that is circulating around the planet in 2005 --- and make no mistake, Gormworm, the collective fear is so intense at this point that you can almost smell it --- comes from a collective unconscious awareness of the impending arrival of the Great Dying. Which is coming, Gormworm, most assuredly, though people laugh at me when I speak of it...

So what can we I do? I myself never had children, and it is a great comfort to me to know that whatever is approaching, I will be able to face it alone, without a gaggle of innocent children to share my suffering. I try to live a decent Christian life filled with the Buddhist virtues of prajna (insight) and karuna (compassion). And I put all in the hands of God. What else can I do? My only hope is that when (to borrow your extended metaphor) the semester ends --- about 15 years or about 5000 days from now --- there are some fruit-flies left alive in the jar to rebuild the whole edifice on a more solid and lasting foundation.

By the way, I am writing this post amid unprecedent contrail activity over my village. God, I feel like I am standing on the parapets of Tolkien's Gondor as the Great Darkness begins to spill out of Mordor...

Mother Earth is not an enclosed jar or petri dish. She will take care of things. She has already with the recent MAJOR earthquakes and tsunamis. Volcanos will follow and more earthquakes.
I won't argue against the fact that The Secret Societies have created biological Weapons to speed things along.

This now being 2006, .. the worm predicts: ... within the next 3 to 5 years, .. American families will probably be having their children drafted, and sent off to Iraq, Iran, Taiwan, and other such places to fight and die, .. while American war materials manufacturers will be making "a financial killing" here at home, .. keeping the American economy going, .. keeping a few folks employed, .. and so on.

There was an epidemic of autistic and mentally retarded children 15 to 16 years ago.
Tens of thousands of these families relocated to the San Francisco bay area (for some reason that escapes me) back in 1997 thru 2000.

My gut feeling is that the tens of thousands of autistic and retarded births was the outcome of a failed covert sterilization project.

I predict that as the 6 billion some-odd people on this planet attempt to reproduce into a next generation, ... instantly doubling the size of the world's human population, ... we will see more and more "spontaneous diseases" that will wipe out a large percentage of the child population ... 50% or more.

Some investigators will discover evidence that these diseases have been artificially engineered, and spread through the population by way of manufactured pharmaceuticals and fast food, ... before the investigators suddenly die from heart attacks and car accidents.
