The Annunaki were no more 'special' than 'we' are. They were just more advanced, but they were nothing more than drunken fools, who liked to screw around (can I say that here?), and they used their advanced knowledge to create 'slaves' for themselves--us!

It's just like the Islanders in the pacific. During the war, an airplane dropped off bundles with supplies. Long story short, the isolated islanders thought the bundles had been dropped off by 'gods'. When a plane crashed on the island, they began building crude replicas of the plane hoping the gods would continue to send goodies from the sky.
