Hmmm. I guess it doesn't hurt for any of us to get our heads examined. I could probably use the help. Probably even runs in the family. See ya latter to find out what John B does with this.

    Hi Ever'Body
It's JBW so you know I'll be listening!

OY what a day I had today. Got up earlier than usual, took the bus downtown, wandered down to The Weekend Market held downtown every Saturday and Sunday during the Summer. It's a lot of fun, with food, entertainment on stage, and the entertainment of watching/eavesdropping on the Touristers
There are Native Arts and Crafts made from bone and horn and antler and leather and fur and wood and local stone and feathers: paintings, carvings, jewelry.
And there are wonderful Arts and Crafts made by non-Natives. There's local honey and birch syrup (which, just personal taste, I prefer over maple syrup) and home made baked goods.
Soon there will be Copper River Salmon canned, kippered, smoked and loxed as well as home made jellies, jams, preserves from fresh picked wild berries and rhubarb.
In a month or so fresh veggies will start showing up.

One of my fave booths was open, selling wonderful, fresh herbs, spices, teas, tea blends, sea salt all kinds of wonderful stuff....I bought a little packet each of Gray and Himalayan Pink sea salt. Soon they'll have organic dried rose buds! Oh and they had Fiddle Heads, from the Fiddle Head Fern....they are only fresh and available for a week or so in the spring. But I didn't buy any.

I did buy nearly a pound (!) of fresh, wild Alaskan mushrooms: Shiitake and Oyster. And I bought a packet of these wonderful dried veggies that POOF right up to normal chopped veggie size in your soup or stew and they taste fresh.

Sooooo and anywhoooo when I got home I thawed 3 quarts of my home made stock; 1 of ham stock and 2 of duck stock. In it I've put the mushrooms I chopped up, a packet of those dried veggies and about 2 cups of dried white beans.

Don't ask what Secret Herbs and Spices I put into the stock when I made it!

It'll be good in a few hours and wonderful (if I do say so myself) tomorrow.

Well, less than an hour to go...see you all then

    Twilight Language

The twilight language exists via "coded words," "name games," and "number coincidences" found in the news and history. These writings look at the hidden meanings and the copycat effect that transform events into "hot death stories" and "celebrity happenings." These realms are explored in my book The Copycat Effect (NY: Simon and Schuster, 2004), and in forthcoming books, with further explorations in onomatology (the study of names) and toponomy (the study of places).
