Yeah and especially toilets that actually flush--ka ching! I have these damn things that are supposed to be "low water usage". What a joke. I almost always have to flush two or three times. Some savings, huh? Pah!

Well, I might have to back-track on the toilet thing Dera. Having being a very young child, and having had to go in an 'outhouse', I think I might retract the flush toilet thing. Why? Because I'm having to pay big bucks for having a new toilet put in. Now if I had an outhouse, all I'd have to do is dig a new hole, and have two burly men come over and help me move the 'house'. Yup! That sounds better than paying hundreds of dollars for having a new toilet put in!

Morning everyone

I think one of the most dangerous aspects of the way most people use technology today is that it is dumbing down humanity. People don't know how to do much any more...cook, can, grow things etc. plus humans no longer think they have to learn or remember anything, because they have their smart phone or computer right by their side.

The computer technology has made people turn away from books, learning and is conditioning them to become totally reliant on a gadget where for the most part they don't want to read more than 3 or 4 sentences, before flitting to something else.

I love my computer and the access to instant information, however that said, we as a global society have to remember not to stop using the natural computer our bodies provide us.

Hi Alpha!!! I agree with you. Yes, here you and I are typing away to people here on the forum, but we don't do it to the exclusion of all else. I think the 'smart' phones are really the most dangerous technological devices I've seen come down the pike. For whatever reason, they seem to be the most addictive. It amazes me frankly, and saddens me to see how people can't be without those gadgets--ever!!

I seem to want to ramble on and on these days. I should be sitting on a porch shelling peas and yacking with other rambling old timers while they whittle, chew, spit, etc. with a couple of old hound dogs sleeping at our feet.

I was hoping Alphs would show up for awhile with an update on Chi.

Maybe Alphs can see the aurora from her part of the county?

I miss Dark Skies. Maybe he can see the northern sky from where he is. Maybe he'd show up more often if we stayed on topic better and sound less like a sewing circle with our chatter, recipes, etc.

Technology also applies to all the fast food that is consumed and not just at places like the "golden arches" but what is in our supermarkets, all designed for so called easy, quick meals to be microwaved. Of course to make this all work with the technology used to create it, which is making people ill and obese, folks don't know or want to cook anything from scratch anymore.

Another example is GPS....a gadget that will tell you how to get somewhere. People don't want to read a map and figure out how to get somewhere themselves and want to trust and only pay attention to a machine where some have driven into rivers blindly following what it says.

I think the guest is right about the 'eco-disaster' thing, but as far as the major climate changes, I must disagree about it being all man's fault. Some yes--but not all. But of course we should as a species change our rotten ways. We are decimating out environment, and killing animals to extinction. That is plain wrong and evil. We are indeed destroying our planet.

I think that computers have many positive aspects. They give access to a wealth of information at one's fingertips and access to meet people all over the world with common interest. It is a wonderful tool for information sharing and to form communities anchored on interest and activity...and is wonderful for those who are handicapped in any way and can't get out to either go to libraries, the movies or to meet people face to face.

As with anything, it's how one choose to use something within some balance and I admit I spend far too much time on this thing However that said, I have made some wonderful friends that I would have never "met" without it.

We're taking it one day at a time with Chi...thanks for asking.

This afternoon when my son and I got her out for her potty time...of of course we have to help her as I described in the other thread, she actually got up by herself at one point and slowly took off to the other side of the yard, which is a good sign. She is still very whacked out and I swear the Metacam is doing that because after 24 hours when it's time for a new does, she is much more alert, different affect and then I give her the Medicam and an hour later she seems all doped up, even though the vet says Metacam doesn't do that. They new thing I am dealing with now is that her lipoma has started to ooze.

No people don't want to know for the most part if it's fast and tastes good....and yes, it's becoming a world that wants instant gratification on all fronts it seems, without putting much thought or work into anything. I fear that will be one of the things that will lead to humanities demise. My CBT is that this is all being done with intent as a move to transhumanism, which ultimately is the PTB agenda.

Hope you get an answer on what's up with the lipoma! That seems to be the root cause of things.

And as far as technology, you are so right!! It's all about BALANCE!! Don't do technology to the exclusion of all else, unless you want to turn into a guinea pig.
