I agree with what much of what Zerzan says, not all, but quite a bit.
I wouldn't mind doing without technology, so long as I wasn't alone, I'd want to be part of a Community.
Mr Ex's Aunt and Uncle had several acres in Florida. Every October there would be a big get together, lasting all weekend. People would bring Campers or even just tents and set up a "Camp" on the back acres. Uncle Joe would build a really nice "Out House" that looked like a small cottage, and there were large buffaloes of fresh water around the "Camp".
Anyway, an Outhouse can be built to look really nice and be really nice inside, not at all smelly and nasty

I seem to want to ramble on and on these days. I should be sitting on a porch shelling peas and yacking with other rambling old timers while they whittle, chew, spit, etc. with a couple of old hound dogs sleeping at our feet.

I was hoping Alphs would show up for awhile with an update on Chi.

Maybe Alphs can see the aurora from her part of the county?

I miss Dark Skies. Maybe he can see the northern sky from where he is. Maybe he'd show up more often if we stayed on topic better and sound less like a sewing circle with our chatter, recipes, etc.

And as far as technology, you are so right!! It's all about BALANCE!! Don't do technology to the exclusion of all else, unless you want to turn into a guinea pig.

I am completely addicted to this machine. If it isn't working right for me I get frantic. I was trying to remember what I used to do BC (before computer). I guess I spent a lot of time in front of the boob tube and I did read more. My housekeeping was a lot better. Now the 'puter serves as my social life, TV, and newspaper. I am kinda glad that I had a life at one time, but also glad that this thing fills so many of my needs nowadays.

What a wonderful memory for you.

I remember out houses from summer camp ( multi person out houses) and from up north. I'll say this...they are much better than having your pants around your ankles in the forest

Gotta agree with you Dera, about if the computer isn't working, I go Postal!! It's mainly because you can't run a business today, without having a computer--literally!! My computer knows not to act up too much, because the ice pick and hammer aren't too far away. I've done it before--and I can do it again, and my 'puter knows that!

I hear you Dera...I do most of my reading on the computer, do a lot of shopping on it also and watch most video of whatever I want to watch on it.

These last few days it has been a life line for me on pet and golden retriever forums, reading there, then my brugmansia forum where I learned so much from people I have never met in person and then of course here at IW, where we all have archived a huge information repository about the stuff we talk about here, and most importantly all my good friends here.

A water buffalo a large container, sometimes very heavy gauge plastic, to hold several gallons of fresh water. It's kinda like those big plastic kegs you see at picnics, that hold a beverage.
