"Walt Disney and George Pal were both known to have copies of journals from Admiral Byrd and others who made the journey to the Center of the Earth, .. just like Jules Verne allegedly did.
Although in the case of Jules Verne, .... as with Gene Roddenberry, ... I suspect the source of information was more first hand than it was based on the written experiences of others.
In Gene Roddenberry’s ”Genesis-II” .. after the human civilization on the surface of the Earth snuffed itself out through nuclear war, ... the civilization from the Earth’s hollow core regains prominence, .. in assisting the surface dwellers to re-build human society.
In Roddenberry's fantasy world: the humans from the Earth’s core have 2 belly buttons, .. and travel from place to place on earth at incredible speeds, using a monorail train system that travels through underground train tunnels that have been bored through solid rock using intense, man-made volcanic heat.
The walls of the tunnels are like melted glass that has cooled and re-solidified.
Rodney Cluff’s interview proves, once again, .. that the stories that are ”too wild to be taken seriously” by the public at large, .. make for GREAT science fiction / fantasy."
